Comic Patrice O’Neal Dies at 41

Patrice O'Neal.
Stand-up comedian Patrice O’Neal has died. He was 41.
“It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O’Neal has passed away this morning at 7:00am due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19,” his publicist said in a statement to ABCNews.com. “Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius. His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side.”
O’Neal is survived by his mother, wife, step daughter and sister.
O’Neal appeared on several TV shows, including the late night comedy circuit, “Arrested Development” and “The Office.” He was also a regular on the “Opie and Anthony” radio show.
O’Neal’s most prominent recent role was on Comedy Central’s “Roast of Charlie Sheen” in September, where his fellow roasters poked fun at his diabetic condition.

Just saw a repeat of his stand up routine a couple nights ago on HBO. Had no idea he was sick or on his deathbed. He was certainly a funny guy. RIP

The man had diabetes, James. It’s a hard disease to live with, and fighting weight is a full-time job!
