Hanson to Launch ‘MMMHop’ Beer Brand
Die-hard Hanson fans, many of whom are now of drinking age, can soon toast the ’90's pop trio with the band’s own beer.
The Hanson brothers – Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson –announced Monday that they are developing an Indian Pale Ale named “MMMHop” after their biggest chart topping hit, “MMMBop,” the Toronto Star reported.
The beer is expected to be released in early 2012.
“We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience,” Zac Hanson said at Oxford University Union on Monday night.
The band already has a branded board game and record player, and now they can add beer to their repertoire.
Hanson is not the first musical group to launch their own brand of alcoholic beverages.
Beers: British rock group Elbow developed “Build A Rocket Boys” beer in honor of their album of the same name last month, while Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott has a lager named “Down ‘N’ Outz.”
Wines: Motley Crue singer Vince Neil bought a vineyard in 2003 and launched his own line of wines under the label Vince Vineyards. Rapper Lil Jon also owns a vineyard in California called Little Jonathan Winery.
Hard Liquor: Marilyn Manson launched ”Mansinthe” in 2008, Willie Nelson has a brand of Kentucky bourbon called “Old Whiskey River,” Van Halen frontman Sammy Hager has a brand of tequila called “Cabo Wabo,” and rapper Dr. Dre has a brand of Cognac called “Aftermath.”
