Mariah Carey’s Massive Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss
After becoming a mom, Mariah Carey shed the equivalent of a small child.
Carey, 41, bares her flat belly and toned legs on the latest cover of Us Weekly, touting her new role as the spokeswoman for the Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig). In an interview with the magazine, she crowed about dropping 30-pounds since giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April.
“I’m proud of how hard I worked to get my body back,” she said. “I had to do this for me.”
But on OWN’s “Rosie Show” Tuesday, Carey said she lost 70 pounds following the birth of her twins. Carey explained that 40 pounds of that was water weight from her difficult pregnancy.
“In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema … water and swelling. Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet,” she said.
The other 30 pounds dropped off with a combination of diet and exercise. Beginning in July, Carey adopted a Jenny-certified diet and workout plan, consuming no more than 1,500 calories a day and working out three times a week.
Now, she told Us Weekly, “I feel incredible.” Catch Carey on “Good Morning America” Thursday where she’ll talk more about her weight loss.
