Nancy Grace Reveals Accidental Weight Loss

The weight-loss train for the celebrities of “ Dancing With the Stars” keeps on rolling, and Nancy Grace is the latest to jump on it.

The HLN talk-show host, legal analyst and mother of two said today on “ Good Morning America” that she has dropped 23 pounds since the show’s 13th season premiered in September.

“I’ve lost 23 pounds completely by accident,” Grace said.  “Twenty-three pounds.  I can’t believe it.”

While many of the show’s celebrity dancers, such as Grace’s competitors former talk-show host Ricki Lake and reality-TV star Rob Kardashian this season, have made their hopes for weight loss and documentation of every inch and pound dropped well known, Grace has been oblivious.

“I don’t know about the inches,” she said.  “I didn’t have a scale out here in Los Angeles, but I finally went and bought one.”

For the past two months, Grace, 51, has commuted between Atlanta, where her family lives and her HLN talk show is filmed, and Los Angeles, where the show is filmed.

It’s that demanding schedule, Grace said, that so quickly dropped the pounds off her body that still carried some of the weight she gained carrying her twins in 2007.

“We’re in rehearsals all day when I’m not on HLN or with my twins,” she said.  “And this one here really doesn’t give me a break,” she said, pointing to Tristan MacManus, her pro partner on the show.

What Grace is shedding in weight, though, she’s gaining in confidence on the dance floor.

Shocking even herself and proving critics wrong, Grace and MacManus are among the five remaining pairs who will be in the ballroom Monday night to continue competing for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.

“I haven’t even slowed down to think about it,” she said of her narrow escape from elimination on Tuesday night’s show that saw actor David Arquette go home instead.

Grace will face off Monday night against fellow weight-loss club losers Kardashian and Lake, along with military veteran-turned-actor J.R. Martinez and U.S. soccer star Hope Solo.

While the weight loss might be making her more nimble and confident on the dance floor, it’s not helping her at home.

“The truth is he thought I looked great the other way,” Grace said of her husband’s reaction to her new, svelter figure. ”My advice is if your guy doesn’t like you how you are, you need to find a new guy.”
