There was a rock in Camila Alves' Christmas stocking this year, but it wasn't a block of coal.  It was an engagement ring from  longtime love Matthew McConaughey.

The 42-year old actor popped the question to his Brazilian girlfriend of five years on Christmas Day.

McConaughey tweeted a picture of the couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree with this message: "Just asked Camila to marry me, #MerryChristmas."

They have two children together: son Levi, 3, and daughter Vida, 23 months. McConaughey most recently starred in the movie  "Lincoln Lawyer."

"There's more to live for," McConaughey told "GMA" in 2009 about fatherhood and his relationship with Alves.
