Did Beyoncé,Jay-Z’s Security Prevent Man From Visiting His Twins?

The arrival of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s newborn daughter at a Manhattan hospital has inconvenienced a man who says the couple’s security team has prevented him from visiting his prematurely-born twin girls.

Speaking with the New York Daily News, 38-year-old Neil Coulon of Brooklyn says the security team has repeatedly stopped him from visiting the neonatal intensive care unit at Lenox Hill Hospital.

“These are children with problems in intensive care and you’re just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology,” he says.

A spokeswoman for the hospital told the Daily News she was unaware of any complaints regarding Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s security staff until the newspaper brought it to her attention.

The Daily News has reported that Bey and Jay paid the hospital $1.3 million to seal off a wing of the hospital to assure their privacy. Their child, reportedly named Blue Ivy Carter, was born Saturday night.

With a stupid name like Blue Ivy lets hope that kid isn’t as ugly as Jay-Z on top of it.

@Neil Coulon …. You forget your place… You, nor your child meet up to the standards of Bounce and Zero. They are richer than you.. they are bettter than you.. you are niothing compared to them. Do you understand now? Now take your @@@ back home and you can see your kid when they tell you that you can. Hollywoord = DC… both are rich low-lifes that think they are better than everyone else. Both seem to forget who the hell pays their way.. as stupid as we are for doing it.

$1.3M ? If she needed that much privacy and security why couldnt she just have it at home?

Posted by: rippedpockets | January 9, 2012, 9:02 am 9:02 am

Too bad there really are idiots who will invade that hospital (at any cost, by any means) – just for the several thousand dollar “baby pic” …

$1.3 Million???? Ever here of a private clinic or home birth? Posting too quickly??? It is my only post…

Posted by: uisignorant | January 9, 2012, 9:21 am 9:21 am

How totally absurd of the celebrities to be able to throw money at a hospital to ensure privacy! Shame on them as well as the hospital for taking the money. They will be paying a lot more than 1.3 million if the father of these twins sues the hospital because he can’t see his twins and they die!
I hope that doesn’t happen! But the hospital set themselves up for a major lawsuit.
I will say that I’m surprises that Mariah Cary is not the 1 doing this!

Must be nice to be the 1% in this country. Buying an entire wing of a hospital??? So, what, would their security team actually have shot the guy for pushing through to see his children? What the hell is wrong with this country???

Posted by: Bob | January 9, 2012, 9:30 am 9:30 am

$1.3 million? Could a small private facility be built for that and then donated for the use to the public? Nice tax write off I would think. But really, this is pathetic. She goes to a ‘public’ hospital, one that is reimbursed by government(medicare) and private citizens(insurance) dollars. Celebrities that think they are god.

Posted by: Corina | January 9, 2012, 9:45 am 9:45 am

$1.3 million can also “treat” … hundreds of low income children for various ailments … I’ll wait for the details … since the wing was supposed to be “closed”, why would the infant ICU be part of it? … I just hope this dad wasn’t trying to get the camera phone in for a “fat payday”

It’s all about the money, isn’t it? If you have enough, anyone and anything can be bought. If I were that Father, I’d be talking to an attorney about getting of fist full of someone’s money. Not that it would compensate should anything tragic happen, but it needs to be brought home that people like these two aren’t the be all and end all for most of us. If they were so concerned about privacy and security, they could have set something up in their home or a private location, not a busy hospital where their self-centeredness impacts so many others. Frankly, they make me sick, and that name is atrocious!!!

Posted by: sosideirish | January 9, 2012, 10:04 am 10:04 am

they have the right to spend money accordingly to protect their family’s privacy. however, the amount of money they shelled out instead of going a more cost effective way would have been less scrutinized. this was very arrogant of them.

Who do they think they are stopping another parent from visiting his baby? They disgust me. As does the star struck money hungry hospital who allowed this to happen. Since when does a hospital allow a bunch of thugs to take over their hospital? Whatever happened to professional standards and ethics? I hope the baby looks like Jay-Z!

Have we been conditioned to the point were anything perceived against us means a call to a lawyer?

Posted by: uisignorant | January 9, 2012, 10:36 am 10:36 am

Deplorable!!! Babies in the NICU are high risk, and one of them could pass away depending on their health status. Not being allowed to be there with them is absolutely inexcusable, I don’t care how much money you have! If your money can replace a baby girl who doesn’t make it, you’ve got more than God. I have a friend who did have two baby girls, born early, one didn’t make it…Baby Hope only lived six hours, Bethany is doing much better although she’s very tiny, and has serious health issues…but I can’t imagine the grief if Keith weren’t allowed to see and hold baby Hope as she slipped from this world. ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE!

@Bob: lol..yea right. Shoot out at the hospital. I think that’s just wrong. How can they stop people from seeing their newborn babies? What the hell is the matter with people. Money talks..

Congrats to the Carters!! People will poke fun and rain on anyone’s parade. Who cares that they paid $1.3 million for privacy? If they have the money to afford that luxury ok THEY PAID FOR IT. Not like you or I had to pay for it. If I was the Carter’s I would not apologize to this man as they had nothing to do with him not supposedly not seeing his kids.

I love haters. All you haters you can go out there and accomplish what they’ve; that if you have the talent. Anyway even if the child is ugly; he is richer than all you haters. Please bear that in mind.

They do not OWN the hospital. If they were so concerned about privacy, have the baby at home. Notice it says nothing of the baby and mothers health, just privacy. If I had a baby in that hospital I would be furious at the obvious double standard. Especially since this man’s twins are in neo-natal unit due to premature birth.

Posted by: pksk531 | January 9, 2012, 12:14 pm 12:14 pm

I’m not buying his story. I had a pre-mature baby born in that hospital a long time ago. The staff treated me and my family just like everyone else. If he was stopped several times as he claimed, there had to be a reason.

John Wayne rented the entire 9th floor of Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach complete with round the clock security and pulled needed nursing staff off of other floors for his and his friends benefit and did it for years. This is a one time occurrence.

“Lady Bug” are you kidding me? Do you really think the families of the children in the NICU are really “haters” as you so elequently put it? No moron. They are people who only wanted to get in to see their sick children but were turned away b/c of this former CRACK DEALER’s so called “security team”…THAT is ridiculous and has nothing to do with money or being a “hater”. It’s called being a human being and realizing that when it comes to your families well being and being there for a sick child, that far outweighs anyones financial situation. It’s clear that you lack the common sense to realize that…

Beyonce went to a hospital to have a baby. The only reason I know this is because the News Media follows her around so it can report she coughed twice in the last 24 hours. Beyonce would not need security for private matters if the News Media left her alone once in a while. The News Media ought to apologize to Mr. Coulon. On the other hand, if Beyonce informed the News Media that she was about to go to a hospital to have a baby and the News Media followed her there, then you are all nuts!

Posted by: wastelandpast | January 9, 2012, 12:54 pm 12:54 pm

pksk531 Yeah there was a reason he was stopped by Jay z security because they paid a hospital for a wing. I say shame on the hospital for even doing it. they should have pointed them at other options that wouldn’t effect others at the hospital.
And to have Jay’z security in charge is totally BS.

Bofe of dem should be aksed for applogees.

Posted by: Felipe | January 9, 2012, 1:13 pm 1:13 pm

So there was only the one set of twins in the NICU at that time? No other babies whose parents couldn’t see them? I doubt it. Why aren’t any of the other parents complaining? And the hospital had no clue about his complaint until contacted by the media? I’m betting there’s a whole lot more to this story than HIS side of it. Too bad ABC didn’t actually investigate before plastering it on their web page. Not a fan, just not gullible either.

Posted by: REALLY | January 9, 2012, 1:34 pm 1:34 pm

DISCLAIMER: I do not know all the elements of this story and apparently, neither does ABC. @howdymo1- I totally agree. It is a sad day in our once great country when individuals such as these (who by the way represent <1 % of our population) are allowed to invent their own rules and simply through the hardworking every day man to the side. We have lost our sense of direction and professionalism anytime we allow absolute folly like this to occur. @uisignorant- No it hasn't come to that but it seems that we as a society have moved away from demonstrations and objections to just simple litigation. I am no lawyer or judge but I do believe in my honest opinion that there is a preponderence of evidence that would merit a civil lawsuit in this situation. No one regardless of how many "fans" you have and how much "airtime" you recieve have any right to deny ANYONE the right to tend to the needs of their family. Detestable, deplorable and despicable.

They needed the whole damn hospital to be shut down because her pregnancy was FAKE!!!!

Posted by: b's a fake | January 9, 2012, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm

If this story is accurate, people should boycott Beyonce and Jay-Z’s products and New Yorkers should boycott the hospital. Other celebrities don’t go to these lengths when they have their babies. They should have had the baby at home or at a private clinic–of couse, that would mean she would have had to give birth vaginally instead of via a planned C-section. “Too posh to push”?

Posted by: Rhonda | January 9, 2012, 2:19 pm 2:19 pm

They had to sneak in the surrogate and they needed the space. She will be back on stage within a month with a smoking body, just watch. Shallow rich people are still shallow.

Posted by: Tracie | January 9, 2012, 2:21 pm 2:21 pm

Well I think they rented out the wing because she had a sergeant and they really want to look like she gave birth, just wait until yall see the baby everyone will know someone else carried the child for them which nothing is wrong with that but just be honest.

Posted by: nebraska | January 9, 2012, 2:25 pm 2:25 pm

Just two more who were’s or who are’s and will soon be who was thinking they are more important than the working class person who by the way allows them to pay the high prices becasue the working man buys whatever so called talent these people are currently selling,(singers, actors, or whatever). I would have liked to see them try to stop me-the hospital would have needed more doctors in the emergency room and I of course wold have sopent some time in jail but most men I know would have done the same thing I would have done. OK here comes the negitive comments from the the weak of the world.

Posted by: robert | January 9, 2012, 3:56 pm 3:56 pm

Who are they to dictate that their baby is more important than the other new parents?! They should be ashamed of the situation they created. If they didn’t want to be bothered, they should have had a home birth! They have enough money, why not build a mini-delivery room at home for that $1.3M?!

Posted by: New Jersey | January 9, 2012, 4:31 pm 4:31 pm

How totally rude and selfish. 1.3M. There are millions of children that go to bed each night hungry or malnourished in this country. Why not give the money to them and have your kid at home. Really, I wish money meant so little to me that I could throw around 1.3 million. And shame on the hospital for taking the money. Shame on all of you.

Posted by: Marilyn | January 9, 2012, 5:09 pm 5:09 pm

I’m disgusted. Several families reported not being able to view their newborn infants because of wealthy people who feel they can buy the hospital. They should have had their celebuspawn at home if they needed privacy so bad. To impose on another persons right to see their infant is despicable. Their hired security prevented the man from seeing his newborn in NICU and as the employers they are held responsible. I hope the head honchos at the hospital are let go because of this mishap. Shows where priorities are at $$$

People say that beyonce and Jay are better than us….my take on that: if you breathe oxygen, grow old and die, and bleed from bullets, you are better than NOBODY

Posted by: gamble | January 9, 2012, 6:54 pm 6:54 pm

Come on people, you sound stupid. Beyonce and Jay-Z spent their money to rent out the wing. NOT YOURS!!!! I dont believe the man who is saying this. Why is he the only one who couldnt get to his kids? It looks like someone just trying to get some money. Even if that was the situation, it isnt Beyonce and Jay-Z’s fault. If the hospital let them rent out the wing then the hospital should have handled the logistics of it. Also, think about the lengths you would go to to protect your child. She did the best thing for her child! Its not her job to worry about other peoples’ children.

Posted by: ivy | January 9, 2012, 9:04 pm 9:04 pm

If this is true then it is because Beyonce didn’t give birth herself, the surrogate did and they couldn’t afford to have anyone see the surrogate and tell the press. I understand that they paid the hospital a lot of money to make the room bulletproof…are you kidding me…no one wants that baby…especially if it looks anything like Jay Z. Blue Ivy? Really? That is the stupidest name and I feel sorry for the kid. Now that the kid is here let the press die down because I’m sick of hearing about them.

Posted by: Kellie | January 9, 2012, 10:35 pm 10:35 pm

For some reason I do not believe that Beyonce gave birth. I think someone else carry her daughter and gave birth to her. that probably why they rented the hospital. only i they knew what it was like to be broke for one day.

Posted by: Patrce | January 9, 2012, 11:05 pm 11:05 pm

Spoiled rich people. So inconsiderate of the everyday people. This man’s child was in intensive care. What if this child died. Why didn’t she just have the kid at home. Guess more publicity for her to use a public hospital.

Posted by: darnella | January 9, 2012, 11:25 pm 11:25 pm

Blue Ivy what a dumb name ! What’s up with show business people naming their children ugly weird names. Such as the couple who named their babies after the top floors of an apartment building and after fruit from a tree.

Plus there is something really fishy about Beyonce’s pregnancy and the delivery is even m1ore weird. I don’t believe Beyonce had a baby,,,,I believe someone had it for her and to prevent press linkage, they had an entire hospital floor and ward on lockdown. I agree with the reader who said, why not have everything done at home or a private clinic ?

The good book says, that which is kept in secret, shall come out into the light. Time will tell

Posted by: Cookie | January 10, 2012, 4:47 am 4:47 am

I had a daughter that was born two months early and spent 3 weeks in the NICU, and i dont care how much money was spent or who the hell is giving birth or not, nobody would have prevented me from getting into an already high security wing of a hospital to see my child. The hospital here and the couple of morons who rented it out are to blame for this situation. And as far as the baby is concerned this kid will be ridiculed enough for such a stupid name and will never know what it is like to live a normal life. And for the dad who was denied access to the unit should have contacted the DCF employee that works in the hospital to gain access because even the celebs are not above the crazy people that work for the Department of Children and Families.

I don’t care who it is nobody will tell me that I could not go to see my child because a pop star has decided to buy the entire wing. Why would a hospital allow that? It is to show you that money can buy anything and anyone. Shame on the hospital administrators for allowing that to take place….

Posted by: Nina Girl | January 10, 2012, 12:22 pm 12:22 pm

I dont know if she had surogate or not…I dont care if she did… But why not be truthful..
And about the CELEBRITIES having so much money and being able to shut down an entire floor of a hospital… IF WE DID NOT BUY THEIR CD’S VIDEO’S OR GO TO THE CONCERTS they would not have this money.. WE are the ones that put them there… dont like it..dont contribute to their wealth.. Same with sports…. we may complain about the $256 million ONE player gets but WE are the ones that go to the games. Hey folks… we need to find another way to get entertainment and leave those in CA and NYC to flounder. They wont be getting their taxes changed nor will they get crappy health care…
In defense of B and J I did hear that he is a very good investor so all his money isnt from us.

Posted by: Donna | January 10, 2012, 1:27 pm 1:27 pm

I would assume that the hospital would have moved every patient including the babies in neonatal care to another floor. Is this man sure they did not relocate the babies? If not it is the hospital who should be blamed. They knew she was coming so why wouldn’t they move the patients?

Posted by: L. Nikolle | January 10, 2012, 2:04 pm 2:04 pm

For whoever said it is not Beyonce’s job to worry about those other infants, you sound dumb ass hell. She was the one who indirectly put them in danger by hiring security, covering cameras, and renting the wing of the hospital all in the name of protecting a child that isn’t in danger and privacy. She has a home for privacy and if she didn’t have a c-section, she could have had her child there. Stop defending them because it was wrong–both the Carter’s and the hospital. You clearly are an obsessed fan if you find nothing wrong. First, the guy just wanted money–then if it was true, it still isn’t her fault. They are people to and should be held accountable.

Posted by: Toni | January 10, 2012, 3:10 pm 3:10 pm

Beyonce wasn’t really pregnant… Her surrogate was, which is why they paid off the hospital to have an entire floor and why they didn’t have Blue Ivy at home… Surrogates are not allowed to home birth…

Posted by: bambam | January 10, 2012, 4:49 pm 4:49 pm

The hospital is at fault if they took the million at the expense of allowing other patients’ families access to their new babies. The hospital should have overseen the security.

Posted by: Librarian53 | January 11, 2012, 9:49 am 9:49 am

This guy/gal obiously doesn’t get it! It doesn’t matter who’s baby it is or the “law”. Every newborn is a celebrity to his/her’s own parents. Parents have and deserve the right to access to their babies. Especially, when they require additional attention.

There is nothing more heart-breaking than to see such a little thing fight for life in a NICU room. No one is going to care more for a baby than a caring mother or father.

The Carters were wrong and their security + the hospital acted inappropierly. Now please send the parents of the twins a $20K crib each just like blue’s and apologize to them publicly.

Posted by: AlanBrito | January 11, 2012, 2:53 pm 2:53 pm

You be surprise how many facilities accommodatefor the rich and famous. Shame on the hospital for not providing equal visiting rights to the other patient’s families that belong there. The concierge director messed up on this one. The Doctors on staff should complain as well. I hope this donation doesn’t go to hiring more executives and provide updated medical equipment. If that was my hospital I would probably reconsider going somewhere else if I was treated that manner.

Posted by: California | January 11, 2012, 4:12 pm 4:12 pm
