Kate Middleton’s Mustique Vacation Is Royal Pain for Other Guests
While Kate Middleton and her family enjoy a luxurious vacation holed up in a $23,000 per week mansion on the Caribbean island of Mustique, the rest of the island is on near lockdown, upsetting tourists and locals.
The Mustique Company, which owns the Caribbean getaway, is restricting the movements of other guests to protect the Middletons’ privacy, the Daily Mail reports.
Tourists have reportedly been banned from using the rented “mules,” or golf carts, normally used to zip around the island, and are being quizzed by security before being allowed to access the beach and other island hot spots.
The Middletons – Kate, along with her parents, Michael and Carole, brother, James, and sister, Pippa – jetted off to Mustique on Friday, sitting first class on a British Airways flight out of London’s Gatwick Airport, a photographer blogged.

The family, owners of a party-planning business, are frequent visitors to the island and reportedly have looked into purchasing a vacation home there. Kate and her husband, Prince William, traveled there in 2006 for a luxury getaway while they were still dating.
But now the security and strict regulations that follow the Duchess of Cambridge, as Kate became known when she and Prince William tied the knot last April, no matter where she travels are creating a stir, even in an island known for hosting A-listers like Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger.
“This isn’t exactly the way one expects to be treated when you pay very good money to visit the most exclusive island in the Caribbean,” one local told the Daily Mail.
A source told the paper the Mustique Company is covering the costs of the extra security, said to be put in place after discussions with Kate’s bodyguards.
“A couple of years ago, don’t forget, the Middletons were just a regular family, very regular,” Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to Prince William’s grandmother, the Queen, told ABC News.
“Then, Kate met a prince, Pippa wore that dress, and the Middletons, all of them, are now neo-royalty,” he said.
The security can be expected to increase even more in the week ahead when Prince Williams joins the family for vacation.
People magazine reports Middleton’s husband, the Duke of Cambridge, will join his wife’s family in Mustique once his military shift schedule allows. He is currently at RAF base in Anglesey, Wales, fulfilling his duties as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
Neither the palace nor the Mustique Company had comment on the royal couple’s vacation plans.

The very wealthy being upset by the very wealthy. Boo hoo. As soon as I finish my full time job to go to my part time job so I can try and keep our house since my husband was laid off, buy food that is grossly overpriced, especially in the smaller size containers made to look the same as before, pay for heat, electicity, and water that have gone up over 5% which my salary has not, and pay $900 for prescription drugs since our insurance was through my husband’s job, I really will make an effort to be concerned about how the mighty have suffered by being denied a golf cart.

It could be worse – Beyonce could have had her baby there!

Precautions for her security are certainly warranted, but to limit the travel of others to insure her privacy?
And $23,000 a week? Are you kidding me?

Why do you think she schmoozed the royalty for so long regardless what they threw at her? Because she knew she would be set for life! She is a gold-digger and now she is digging gold! Why does she need a vacation for anyway? She doesn’t do anything!

This is just ridiculous.Just goes to show the power of money over democracy!!!! She should be paying 1 million a week if this be the case…what the hell is $23000 a week? Is this money in Eastern caribbean currency or pounds??? Another case of rich whites getting over on others.

She is no different from her predecessor, the late Duchess of Windsor. She is a skilled, high-priced ‘ho’. She will NEVER be the Queen of England. She will die the childless dowager Duchess. Let her enjoy her shallow life—it won’t last.

Do they want to be royalty or do they want to be ordinary? They can’t have it both ways, can they? I say they should stay in their castles if going out will screw up things for other people.

For other guests: Ask your money back and leave that place!
Advice for future guests worldwide:Avoid areas where the British royal family travels!

Prince William was such an easy mark for the Middleton social climbers. And they’re not about to take their claws out of that kid any time soon. Not with all the perks and certainly not without popping out the anchor baby first. Kate and her mother made sure that she got into the same school as William, in the same classes and all but stripped for him in public. Only kink in the Middleton manipulations seems to be the other brother. Harry didn’t give a rat’s patoot about Pippa regardless of how much she flaunted her derriere.

Leave the royals alone. and as for the guests get your money back or don’t travel to were they would be at.

Kate will wear everyone down after a while. She needs to learn public speaking and really be serious about some worthwhile causes. I agree that her mother is a gold digger. William married a family he did not have. She is lovely but boring.

Are some of you getting paid to be nasty or does it come naturally? William married the girl he loved and they seem happy. The Middleton’s are self-made millionaires. I guess it would have been so much better having a repeat of the Charles and Diana melodrama and infidelity? And, some other millionaires can’t ride golf carts? Let them walk! That’s what they have legs and feet for.

It’s always a pain when “royalty” visits. Just ask the people who live in Hawaii.

I cannot get over anyone needing a holdiday from doing nothing that required great time and energy such as the general public puts into their job.
Sadly, Kate has turned into a Duchess Do-Little and worse yet, many of you who are Kate worshippers instantly come to the conclusion that our comments are “out of jealousy” or because we “hate Kate”. Would you hate to know that there is no hatred of Kate? She deserves to be happy, but she is not, and she never will be a Royal role model no matter how much you wish this was a fantasy come true.
Many who write against her are possibly self made in their own right and can see the laziness.
All that money that could help the poor going to protect someone that I highly doubt anyone would take/kidnap.
As for Charles and Diana, they had a happy 5 years together. William barely looks at Kate.

I agree with Anne. Why all the ugly comments? Find your own “prince” or “princess” and shut up. Kate is not a Dutchess Do-Little. She is new to this and is learning. Is it a plus that she’s beautiful? Sure it is. Gold digger?? Come on…
There are prices to be paid when you’re Royalty and therefore, also, when you live or vacation near them.

So what?? USD$23000. a week is still not one of the higher priced homes in Mustique. what do the royals care about the thousands that can be fed with that money?

hahahha at Katherine and Ann… you are too much into gossip and romantic stories.. i don’t see anything wrong with people making different comments here.. this is a democracy right? keep dreaming hahahhaah!

Some of these comments are beyond comprehension! The Middletons have made millions of pounds and they can spend it how they like. And those poor poor millionaires having to ride in a golf cart, let me get my violin. How about those people who are calling Kate ‘duchess do little’ stop and think about what on earth you’re doing commenting on this article when you could be ‘doing’ more important. things

Kate’s popularity has done more good things for the Royal family’s profile in the last yr than the RF have done in the last 15yrs. Who cares if she’s gone on holiday? She’s making millions for GB by doing ‘nothing’ so let her!

Let the world leave british royal alone, they’re far better than nigerian premitive royals.

I guess I’m confused by all the fuss this time. I read that William and Kate had vacationed on Mustique previously – before they were married, but wouldn’t William’s security have been present then? Or is the security on this trip increased due to his wife’s popularity with the media?

It is ridiculous for the Middleton family to act this way. It is a turn off to most. We saw Princess Diana numerous times in a bathing suit and no one had any problem with it. This family is full of itself.

As GB Shaw put it “Kings are not born: they are made by universal hallucination” – and so are gold-digging princesses and their families.
The only worthwhile question is: why does this hallucination persist in the 21st century?
‘They are better than other Royals’ is no consolation at all. As for the “millions” they are said to be making for the country, I wonder, has anyone actually ever quantified such earnings?
And if so, why aren’t they taxed on it?
Tax ‘em High, is what I say. And spend tax-payers money for the benefit of tax-payers, not for indulging the whims of futile blood-suckers and their retinue. They are, after all, just an hallucination – withdraw funds and they will disappear.

Guys, Mustique is a part of St Vincent and the Grenadines,so when you all visit Mustique just take a ride to the main land. Vincy.

What a load of rubbish… it is just the media making up a load of lies. I have a very close contact on the island, and he says the locals on the island are fine and are not upset. It is the tourists on yachts and reporters who are trying to get on the island, purely because the family are there, and they have been turned away….you cannot get on the island without permission, it is a private island afterall. Dont read anything the media are reporting… BTW the photo of Kate is an old one from previous years…..
