Bethenny Frankel Reveals She Had a Miscarriage
Reality-television personality and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel revealed that she had a miscarriage when she was eight weeks pregnant.
Frankel, a former star of "The Real Housewives of New York City" who is starring in her own reality-TV series, "Bethenny Ever After," shared the news in an interview on NBC's "Today" show Monday when asked whether she and husband Jason Hoppy plan to have a second child.
"I'm 41. … It's a very personal question that I get asked a lot. We were pregnant with a second baby, and at eight weeks I miscarried, and that was a very emotional experience. It had a lot of different things that came with it," Frankel said.
"Thinking about women who can't have their own baby, even the first baby, I'm really lucky."
Frankel is the mother of a 21-month-old girl named Bryn. Holding back tears in the interview, she said the miscarriage happened recently. Frankel added that it will not be dealt with on this season of her show, and went on to discuss the prospect of trying again to have a baby.
"It's not really my option, and the window's closing, and it's something that I'm dealing with. … I'm not really thinking about it. I don't know what my options are. I do have an incredible daughter. I feel like she's perfect," Frankel said.
Frankel rose to fame when she became one of the final contestants on "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" and later by appearing on "Real Housewives." She launched her company SkinnyGirl Cocktails in 2009, and subsequently released two SkinnyGirl books.
