Marcia Gay Harden Files for Divorce

Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden filed for divorce from her husband Thaddaeus Scheel after 15-years of marriage.

"For the sake of the couple's three children, Harden would like to request that the family's privacy be respected at this time," Harden's representative confirmed to ABC News in a prepared statement. "No further comments will be made on this matter, and we thank you for your understanding."

The couple has a 13-year old daughter, Eulala, and 7-year-old twins, Hudson and Julitta Dee.

The actress is no stranger to heartache - having tragically lost family members in a Queens, N.Y., apartment fire on Dec. 14, 2003.

The fire claimed the family of Harden's brother, Thaddeus Harden, according to People - his daughter Audrey, 10, son Sander, 6, and Rebecca Harden, 37, the children's mother and Harden's ex-wife. Neighbors saw the children outside laughing and throwing snowballs earlier that day, according to People.

Harden won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2001 for her role in "Pollock."  She won a Tony Award in 2009 for her role in the Broadway play, "God of Carnage."
