'American Idol': Jennifer Lopez Announces New Single, Shannon Magrane Sent Home

Shannon Magrane sang Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" as her farewell song after getting the boot on Thursday night's 'American Idol' results show. Elise Testone and Erika Van Pelt were in the bottom three with Shannon, but they'll be joining the rest of the top 10 on the American Idol tour this summer.

Joshua Ledet got high praise for his version of "When a Man Loves a Woman" from the original artist, Percy Sledge, during Thursday's show. The R&B singer sent an email saying, "Joshua did a wonderful job. He scored a 10 in my book. I loved his interpretation. I'm very proud of him."

Judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez were on hand, and Jennifer showed off her new Vogue cover. Jennifer also made the big announcement she'll have a new single and Paul Hunter-directed video out March 29.

Demi Lovato took the stage to sing "Give Your Heart a Break," and Daughtry returned to the 'Idol' stage to perform their latest single, "Outta My Head."

Tommy Hilfiger appeared on the show to announce he'll be image consulting with the contestants this season, starting next week.

Of note, Jermaine Jones was eliminated this week for not disclosing his criminal history to 'Idol' producers. Jermaine showed up with the other contestants in this week's Ford music video, which was obviously taped before producers kicked him off Tuesday afternoon.

'American Idol' returns next Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Fox.
