Martin Short: 'No Ill Will Intended' by Kathie Lee Gifford with Marriage Questions

Martin Short isn't upset with Kathie Lee Gifford for asking him about his late wife on the Today show Wednesday.

Gifford, not realizing that Short's wife, Nancy Dolman, died of ovarian cancer in 2010, commented that the actor has "one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business." She then asked him, "How many years are you in love with her now?"

Short answered that question as well as follow-up questions about his marriage without correcting her.

In an interview with E! News, the "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" star says of Gifford's error, "On live television, people make mistakes. There's no ill will intended." He adds, "It's nice to aspire to be kind of elegant."

Gifford has apologized for her mistake on both the Today show and on Twitter.
