'Sister Wives' Family Won't Face Charges in Utah
The polygamous family at the center of the TLC series "Sister Wives" will not face criminal charges in Utah.
Utah County authorities launched a bigamy investigation into Kody Brown and his four wives in 2010, after which the family moved from Utah to Las Vegas.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, a Utah County prosecutor says charges against the family will not be filed due to a new policy under which bigamy cases will not be pursued against any consenting adult polygamist unless violence, abuse or fraud is involved.
Brown and his wives last year filed a lawsuit against Utah County challenging the state's polygamy law. The county seeks to have the lawsuit dismissed in light of its decision to not prosecute the family.
