Shia LaBeouf Quits Drinking - Except for New Role
After a series of public drunken mishaps, including a car accident and a boozy brawl, Shia LaBeouf tells the New York Post he swore off drinking. However, for his upcoming movie "Lawless," which takes place amid the bullets and bloodshed that surrounded bootlegging during Prohibition, the actor says he drank moonshine.
"My drinking on this movie was as un-destructive as I could possibly make it, if that makes sense," he told the Post Monday night. "I did it for the movie. I didn't drink off-set for no reason. I did it because, when I showed up on set the next day, my [bleep]ing eyes looked like this and my face…had that drunk bloat that I needed, that I couldn't have if that wasn't going on."
The actor said his drinking - whether for method-acting reasons or no - freaked out co-star Mia Wasikowska.
"She was calling her attorney, like, 'Get me the [bleep] out of here,' LaBeouf recalls. "I was really pretty aggressive about it, and not in any kind of weird, strange way, but I don't think she had ever experienced anything like that." LaBeouf claims the pair are now friends.
