Nick Swisher and JoAnna Garcia Expecting First Child
Congratulations are in order for former New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher and actress JoAnna Garcia. The two announced on their social media accounts Monday a baby is on the way.
Swisher, 31, took to his Facebook page to share the news. "We are so excited to finally be able to share our exciting news with you! We are expecting a little Swisher in the spring of 2013," the couple wrote.
"Words can't describe how blessed we feel to be expanding our family and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new addition. Your support and kindness has meant so much to us throughout the years and we wanted to personally share the news with you all."
And Garcia, 33, tweeted Monday, "so happy to finally be able to share out news! @NickSwisher & I r expecting our 1 st baby in 2012! Feeling so blessed & beyond excited!"
Swisher started playing with the Yankees in 2009 and led the team to a World Series the same year. He was an All-Star in 2010. Swisher is now a free agent after recently turning down a $13.3 million one-year qualifying offer from the Yankees. Garcia is best known for her roles in "Reba" and "Better With You." She most recently starred in NBC's "Animal Practice."
Lea Michele and Jamie-Lynn Sigler congratulated the couple on Twitter, even throwing in their bid for aunt status. Michele tweeted, "@NickSwisher and @JoAnnaLGarcia Congratulations! So happy for you both! Such an incredible blessing: ) #auntilea. Sigler tweeted, "congrats to my besties @JoAnnaLGarcia and @NickSwisher on your big news!! I plan on spoiling your baby swish rotten!! #auntjamieisthebest
This is the first child for the couple, who married on Dec. 11, 2010 in Palm Beach, Fla.
