Shannen Doherty's 911 Call for Suicidal Twitter Fan Heard for First Time

Shannen Doherty stepped into a real-life drama when a Twitter fan threatened to commit suicide unless the actress called her.

Doherty, who lives in Los Angeles, called police in Westhampton, N.J., where the unnamed fan lives.

The incident occurred last month, but audio of the call was posted by TMZ.com Sunday. In it, Doherty can be heard describing the situation to a dispatcher.

"This is going to sound incredibly strange," she began. "My name is Shannen Doherty and I'm an actress. I'm on Twitter, sadly, and there is a girl that is threatening to shoot herself."

Doherty, 41, added, "I'm completely untrained to deal with somebody threatening to commit suicide."

The same woman had reportedly tweeted the "Beverly Hills, 90210? star before.

"My security guys actually told me to block her, because she's super-aggressive and does very erratic things," Doherty said in the tape of the 911 call.

"I'm now sitting here, like, you know freaking out and held hostage and I can't even do anything."

Doherty provided the police with the fan's contact information, and officers went to the woman's address.

The actress asked police to let her know what happened.

While officers were en route, the dispatcher asked Doherty to stay on the line just in case they needed her to talk to the woman.

The dispatcher also admitted to Doherty that he was a fan.

"All my co-workers can't believe who I'm on the phone with," he said, adding, "They all want your Twitter account."

Police notified Doherty that her fan was safe, and the actress tweeted her thanks.

Doherty, through her publicist, declined to comment to ABC News.
