Jay-Z to Score 'The Great Gatsby'
"The Great Gatsby" may be set in the 1920s, but the 2013 film adaption is getting a modern twist.
Jay-Z will be co-writing the original musical score for the film directed by Baz Luhrmann, who also directed the period films "Romeo & Juliet" and "Moulin Rouge."
The rapper's producer-songwriter, The Bullitts (real name: Jeymes Samuel), broke the news on Twitter.
"Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!" he tweeted Dec. 30.
The film's trailer hinted at Jay's involvement by featuring one of his collaborations with Kanye West, "No Church in the Wild." The latest "Gatsby," starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, hits theaters May 10.
