Justin Bieber's Mom Lends Name to Anti-Abortion Short Film
Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, is stepping out of her son's shadow and into the spotlight as an executive producer on an anti-abortion short film.
The makers of the film, which is called "Crescendo," said they hope to raise $10 million for pregnancy centers across the country by holding 100 screenings of the film on Feb. 28, The Associated Press reported.
In her book "Nowhere But Up," Mallette, 37, who became pregnant with Justin at age 17, wrote that she was encouraged to have an abortion and felt pressured to terminate her pregnancy.
"I knew that I had to do what it took," she writes. "I just couldn't abort him."
Mallette said in statement she hopes her involvement with the film will "encourage young women all over the world, just like me, to let them know that there is a place to go, people who will take care of you and a safe home to live in if you are pregnant and think you have nowhere else to turn."
