Beyonce's Revealing Documentary on HBO
HBO announced it will air Beyonce's personal documentary "Life is But a Dream" on February 16 at 9 p.m. The film is directed by the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer and will show parts of her private life and raw video of her flashy performances.
"I really grew so much. This movie has really been my therapy. I've healed from so many wounds and I've been able to understand why some of the things I've been through, why I went through, so I feel really proud, and hopefully I can inspire other people," Beyonce told Oprah Winfrey in an interview before the documentary was screened Feb. 12.
Beyonce's initial inspiration for creating the documentary was her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The film will show Beyonce's stomach before giving birth and highlight what it was like to return to the spotlight after she gave birth in January 2012.
In first-person footage, Beyonce will reflect on the joy of being a mother and talk about the realities of being a celebrity.
"Everybody knows Beyonce's music, but few know Beyonce the person," Michael Lombard, president of HBO programming, said in a statement. "Along with electrifying footage of Beyonce onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."
