'Modern Family' Stars Stuck in Hotel Elevator
Cast members of ABC's "Modern Family" found themselves trapped in a crowded elevator for nearly an hour on their way to headline a fundraiser in Kansas City, Mo.
Actors Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were among the 15 stuck in an elevator on the third floor of the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center Friday night.
The trio was in town to headline Kids Night Out 2013, a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.

But until rescue workers from the Kansas City Fire Department could make their way down from the 40th floor to free the trapped people, the three stars kept their calm - taking pictures, making videos, and tweeting from the scene.
"This is us right now. 45 minutes stuck in this elevator," Jesse Tyler Ferguson tweeted, including a snapshot of the trio to his followers.
Bowen, Stonestreet, and Ferguson were expected to take the stage at 9 p.m., but didn't appear until after 10 p.m. The Kansas City Star reported many in the audience thought it was a joke when the three didn't come on at first, but nearly a third of the crowd left before the actors could take the stage.

Once on stage, the actors joked with the crowd about the ordeal. Stonestreet ended the night with a warning to the audience not to use the hotel's elevators.
