'Dancing With the Stars' Results: D.L. Hughley Voted Off in Week 5

After five weeks of low scores in the ballroom, comedian D.L. Hughley was sent home Tuesday night on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars."

A somewhat relieved Hughley said that while he had a great time competing on the show, he's ready to hang up his dancing shoes.

"I don't care about dancing," Hughley joked on "Good Morning America." "I did it to have fun. It went from learning how to dance to 'Hunger Games' in tights. …I lost a little weight and I'm burning my dance shoes on my way out of here."

After learning of his fate during the results show, Hughley hugged his pro dance partner, Cheryl Burke, whom he'd become close friends with during the competition.

"I got a great friend in Cheryl," he said today.

"I'm going to miss D.L.," Burke echoed. "Coming from a serious season like 'All-Stars' last season to this season, it's been so much fun, and he's reminded me how much fun the show can be. We had such a great time together. He's going to be a friend forever."

The couples took to the dance floor Monday night after the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon, where some 175 people were injured, and three people, including an 8-year-old boy, were killed. Hughley said the show was a particularly tough one as Boston weighed heavily on their minds.

"It was really, really hard," he said. "We felt a little conflicted. It felt a little sacrilegious to be worrying about dancing during such a tragic event, but we also realize it was a distraction for a lot of people. The show had to go on and we did the best we could. But [Boston] was something we thought about during the whole routine."

Hughley's routines have resulted in scores that put him at or near the bottom of the leaderboard, although he rallied last week, delivering a performance that put him in the middle of the pack after judges said he'd shown improvement.

He and comedian Andy Dick tied for last place after Monday night's performances.

The star with the lowest overall total after judges' scores and viewer votes are combined is the one who is sent home. Hughley and boxer Victor Ortiz were the two lowest scorers Tuesday following Monday's performance show.

Country music legend Wynonna Judd and reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump have already been eliminated this season. Figure skating icon Dorothy Hamill withdrew from the competition because of an injury.

Tuesday night's show featured live musical performances from Selena Gomez, The Band Perry and Kerli.

The celebrities will perform team dances to the music of Stevie Wonder during Monday's show.

"Dancing With the Stars" is now in its 16th season.
