Ed O'Neill tells fans to expect to laugh at a usually somber topic during the season four finale of ABC's "Modern Family ."

"It involves a death," he revealed to ABC News Radio Tuesday night in New York City at ABC Television's unveiling of its 2013-2014 primetime lineup, "which doesn't seem like it's funny, but it's a very funny show and it's a very touching show."

The episode, titled "Goodnight, Gracie" follows the Modern Family crew as they fly down to Florida to be with Phil (Ty Burrell) after his mom, Gracie, passes away. Gloria (Sofía Vergara) finds herself having to contest an outstanding arrest warrant in Florida and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) fits right in with an elderly women's group at Frank's (Fred Willard) retirement community. Meanwhile, Jay (O'Neill) runs into someone from his past.

"I haven't seen it, but I shot it," he continued. "I mean, I was part of it and it's really, really good."

To find out what really happens on Modern Family's season finale, we'll have to wait until May 22.
