Pierce Brosnan's Daughter Charlotte Dies From Ovarian Cancer
By ABC News' Michael Rothman:
Pierce Brosnan's daughter Charlotte has died after a three-year battle with the same disease that also claimed her mother's life more than 20 years ago.
"Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity," Brosnan told ABC News in a statement. "Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl."
Charlotte, 41, died in London on June 28 from ovarian cancer. Brosnan's former wife and Charlotte's mother, Cassandra Harris, whom he married in 1980, died of the disease in 1991.
Brosnan adopted Charlotte after her father died in 1986.
In her final hours, Charlotte was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella, 14, and Lucas, 8, and brothers Christopher and Sean.
After losing another loved one to ovarian cancer, Brosnan said that he was looking to the future and a possible cure.
"We pray for her [Charlotte] and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon," he said. "We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences."
