Even though it was his night, Justin Timberlake wanted to credit his former *NSYNC band members for contributing to his Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.

While accepting the award Sunday night, Timberlake said, "Half of the Moon Men that I've ever won I won with those four guys right there."

Today, " On Air with Ryan Seacrest," one of those four, JC Chasez, seconded the sentiment, giving JT all the credit for getting the group back together in Brooklyn.

"Justin gave me a buzz and he said, 'Hey man, listen. I'm getting this award and they have given me a pile of time to perform and we started our careers at MTV and I think we should get the band back together,'" Chasez told Seacrest.
Chasez said he, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass "all decided to do it" because "it was just about five guys who were great friends who spent 10 or 15 years together touring."
Justin and JC tried to keep it a secret, until Bass came in during rehearsal and broke the bad news to the group.
"Lance walked in and said, 'Well everybody knows now'… and we were like, 'How in the world did they figure it out?!'"
After having to run through the dance moves a little slower than usual after more than a decade apart, Chasez said there's no chance the band is getting back together beyond last night.
"We were there mainly to support Justin," he said.
