As part of "The Talk" Secret Week, fans have gotten to know more about the show's hosts, including Julie Chen's past plastic surgery to boost her career, and Sharon Osbourne's "flingy dingy" with Jay Leno years back.

But Sara Gilbert, 38, Thursday brought up her emotional reveal that is still ongoing.

The former "Roseanne" star talked about dating her co-star on the show, Johnny Galecki, when she started to realize she was gay.

"He would come over and we would like make out and then I would start to get depressed," she said. "Johnny felt badly, I think, and started to take it personally and didn't understand what was going on. So, I eventually told him that I thought it was about my sexuality."

Galecki, who now stars on the hit show "The Big Bang Theory," couldn't have taken the news more in stride and with more support, then and now, she said.

"He was super sweet about it," Gilbert said. "I started dating a woman who was like 18 years older than I was. No one knew at the show for years and Johnny held the secret the whole time and I just felt like always so scared if it came out, what could happen? Could I lose my career?"

When Gilbert called Galecki, 38, to tell him she'd be telling the story, he once again was the rock that she needed.

"[He said] 'I love you and I think it's really important. I'm so proud of you.'" she said. "He said, 'If you want, I'll be there and hold your hand.' I just thought that was so sweet."

Still, even with the support of friends and family, Gilbert said it's tough to deal with her sexuality.

"When I talk about my sexuality on the show or in public, I still feel really scared. So I'll try to act confident or I'll make jokes about it, but there's still a piece of me that goes, 'What is this costing me in my career?'" she said.

Not that she is ungrateful for the life she has with her two children and fiancee Linda Perry.

"I have an amazing life," Gilbert said, "but I want people to know that there can still be a struggle with it and that's OK."
