Dax Shepard considers himself the "luckiest man in America" after tying the knot with longtime fiancé Kristen Bell. Shepard stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Monday and in a candid interview, the "Parenthood" actor revealed details of the couple's nuptials.
Shepard, 38, and Bell, 33, were engaged for three years prior to exchanging vows at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's office on October 17. The LGBTQ advocates put off their wedding until after same-sex couples were given the legal right to marry nationwide. Four months after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, the "When in Rome" co-stars sealed the deal in a modest ceremony.
"So we went to the Beverly Hills courthouse, and all in, with fuel to get there, $142 out the door," Shepard revealed. "I don't yet have a ring. I am going to follow your course, because you got your ring at Costco."
While Shepard has yet to buy a wedding band, Bell has been sporting her "expensive" ring since the couple's engagement in 2010.
"I don't have one. She has a beautiful one," Shepard explained.
In an industry famous for lavish weddings, the couple's thriftiness comes as a surprise to fans and friends alike.
"Friends of ours came to the courthouse, and it was just Kristen and I at this lonely courthouse, so they brought us this cake afterwards," he told Kimmel. "'The World's Worst Wedding.' How many people can say they threw 'The World's Worst Wedding?'"
The newlyweds have been together for six years. They have a 6-month-old daughter, Lincoln, born in March 2013.
