From one single mother to another, Jennie Garth spoke with Bethenny Frankel on her talk show about diving back into dating following a split.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210? star, 41, split from "Twilight" actor Peter Facinelli early last year and said being back in the dating pool was "super challenging."

"You have to go through a lot, find your way and you have to stumble," Garth told Frankel on an episode of " Bethenny," which airs today. "I think that's the only way you learn how to do it is by making mistakes."

Garth added that she expected to come right out of a divorce - finalized in June - and be great at dating, but the actress soon realized she had a lot to learn after more than a decade of marriage. She and Facinelli married in 2001 and have three daughters.

Frankel's going through her own divorce from Jason Hoppy, whom she married in 2010 and has a 3-year-old daughter, Bryn. She added her sentiments that getting back on the dating saddle was like the "Wild West."

"It's fun and it's awful all at the same time," Garth responded. "It's not that exciting, it's like a weird type of torture, but it can be fun."

As for what qualities Garth looks for in her future suitors, "I look for somebody that shares an energy. It doesn't matter what the person looks like or what they really do. There has to be that first and foremost, that zing."
