Julianne Hough is apologizing after she dressed in blackface and impersonated the character "Crazy Eyes" from the Netflix hit series "Orange is the New Black" at a Halloween bash.

Hough stepped out as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren at a party in Beverly Hills Friday night. Once photographs of the 25-year-old "Safe Haven" actress in costume started to circulate, backlash to her questionable makeup decision quickly ensued.

In response, Hough took to her Twitter account on Saturday to issue a mea culpa to all those she offended for her choice of makeup.

"I am a huge fan of the show 'Orange is the New Black,' actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," Hough wrote. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Uzo Aduba's rep declined to comment to ABC News on the costume controversy.
