Katy Perry and John Mayer have made no secret of how crazy they are about each other, but when the "Roar" singer wore a ring on her left hand to the MTV EMAs on Sunday night, rumors began circulating that maybe they'd made things official.

Though a rep for Perry did not respond to requests for comment, a source told Us Weekly that the bauble is not an engagement ring.

"She's not engaged," the source told the magazine. "It was just a ring that went with the outfit."

Still, Perry, 29, has been gushing about Mayer, 36, for quite some time. Just last month, she admitted that she'd had a "crush" on him long before they started dating.

"I had a crush on him for a long time," she said. "And it just so happens we fit together great."
