Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are having the most mature celebrity split ever.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star met with Katie Couric Thursday to talk about his split with Kerr after six years together, which resulted in a son, Flynn, 2.

"We love each other. We're a family," Bloom said on "Katie!" The interview airs today. "We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question that for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."

Bloom, who is currently starring on Broadway in "Romeo and Juliet," stepped out with Kerr and Flynn last week, furthering the notion that the two are not letting the breakup affect their parenting.

"Life sometimes doesn't work out exactly as we plan or hope for," he said. "But we're adults. I'm 36 and now she's 30. We're professionals. We love and care about each other. Most of all, we love our son."

The couple began dating in 2007 and wed in 2010. News broke last Thursday that the couple "decided to formalize their separation," their rep said.
