"American Idol" runner-up Crystal Bowersox revealed recently on "Good Day L.A." that she has "been bisexual for as long as I can remember."

While promoting her new song, "Coming Out For Christmas," Bowersox said the song was for all the members of the LGBT community who have been disowned by their family or picked on for their sexual orientation.

"I just remember being made fun of in junior high for that and it was something that was shameful and it really shouldn't be," she told "Good Day L.A." in late November.

More recently, the singer spoke to Greg Hernandez for a story that just ran a few days ago on GregInHollywood.com, telling him that the response from her coming out has been "overwhelmingly positive."

"My fans are die hard and I love them for it. They take me as I am," she added.

On why she just decided now to come out, since she's known of her sexuality for quite some time, she said, "I feel really confident this year and that's a part of who I am and there's no sense in keeping it to yourself."
