One Direction member Liam Payne inserted himself into the " Duck Dynasty" controversy when he sent a tweet to one of the show's stars, Willie Robertson, over the weekend.

"@williebosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan," Payne tweeted Saturday.

When some fans interpreted Payne's compliment to mean the 20-year-old agrees with show patriarch Phil Robertson's recently aired views on gays and blacks, Payne quickly clarified his original comment in a series of subsequent tweets.

"Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say," he wrote in response to the backlash.

'Duck Dynasty' Returns with Lower Ratings

"Again i just like the show and i love when families stick together, i havent said i agree with all that theyve ever said," he added.

But that wasn't the end of it. When media reports picked up on the Twitter backlash, Payne jumped back into the fray.

"Oh my god can someone literally not be a fan [of] a show without bring labeled WTf I bought dinner the other day it made a news story," he wrote Sunday.

"What I gotta do to please you … I'm a 20 year old just living life as you did when u where twenty but in extraordinary circumstances," he said in a tweet directed at journalists and bloggers.

Phil Robertson's Most Controversial Comments

"I just watched a show and I liked it as most people do stop sitting in my twitter and do your research #lazyjournos," he said.

Payne's Twitter rant did not go unnoticed by the Robertsons either.

Willie responded Sunday with, "@Real_Liam_Payne Thanks bro. Congrats to u boys as well. Y'all keep rockin, we'll keep quackin. Stay strong in this nutty world."

"Duck Dynasty" recently returned to A&E with lower ratings following Phil Robertson's controversial comments about gays and blacks made during a GQ magazine interview. The family patriarch was originally suspended from the show before A&E reversed its decision after fans and the Robertson family protested.
