Celebrated fashion designer L'Wren Scott, 47, was found dead Monday morning in her Manhattan apartment, according to New York police. After the news of Scott's death broke, fashion industry professionals, celebrities and friends took to Twitter to share their condolences and sadness.
From Madonna to Nicole Kidman and from Jennifer Lopez to Michelle Obama, Scott has been responsible for the dresses worn by many famous women. She was also the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger who, ABC News is told by a spokesperson for the singer, is utterly devastated and shocked by the news.
Costume designer Arianne Phillips told Pret-a-Reporter that she is "shocked and saddened at this tragic devastating news of the loss of L'Wren." Phillips added: "L'Wren has always extended an incredible generosity to me, both professionally and personally. She made the world a more beautiful place, I cannot imagine her not in it."
The creative ambassador at Barneys New York, Simon Doonan, wrote to Pret-a-Reporter in an email that "anyone who's ever met her [Scott] and been around that magical creative, glamorous persona will never forget her."
Doonan continued: "She was completely unique and utterly glamorous, creative, intelligent and supremely funny. She was a great raconteur, and I never saw her looking anything but perfectly put together like a Hollywood music star from the '40s. She was always very loyal and close to her friends, and we were all devastated. She was very much a part of the Barneys family, and we are all devastated."
