The new "Dancing With the Stars" cast was announced today and it includes a pair of iconic actresses, a record-breaking swimmer, a young pop singer, a comedian AND two Olympic gold medal ice dancers?

Athletes have always been the subject of debate on the dance competition show since they have been training for years. ESPN, even did an analysis a couple of seasons ago.

But Meryl Davis, 27, and Charlie White, 26, are Olympic ice dancers who just won gold medals in Sochi.

White did say on "Good Morning America" admitted that "the way you move is completely different" on the dance floor compared to ice.

And the pair, who have been competing together since 1997, won't be working together this time.

"I think we're excited for a little healthy competition," Davis said.

Finally, Davis and White will have some athletic competition. Sean Avery is the first former hockey player to star on the show and double-amputee snowboarding champ Amy Purdy will also compete.

Even with all this, the announcement begs the question, are David and White a lock for the finals?
