For Blake Lively, acting was never her first choice.

"It was never that I didn't want to be an actor because I thought it was a bad industry," she told the October issue of Fashion magazine. "It was just that my whole family did it and I wanted to do something different. I was the youngest of five kids and I wanted to create my own path and my own sort of legacy."

Even now, as a member of the A-list, the 27-year-old actress is forging her own path.

She took a two-year break from acting after her series "Gossip Girl" came to an end.

"I felt exhausted, both physically and creatively," she told the magazine. "So I really wanted some time to myself and to focus on other things that I loved, so that when I did it again I would be really re-invigorated."

During the break, she spent time with husband Ryan Reynolds and launched a new lifestyle website, Preserve.

"I don't think I will ever do one thing. I've never done one thing," she told Fashion. "I have a tendency to go all or nothing. I take so many things on, so there will never be one [occasion] when I say, 'This is it, and this is all I'm doing forever.'"

Lively will make her return to the big screen next year in the romantic drama, "Age of Adaline," playing a 29-year-old who stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident, opposite Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn.

"t took a movie that I really couldn't say 'no' to, you know, because there's plenty that I would have done, but it was really important to have that time," she said about her break. "So when I read that one, I said, 'I can't not be in this movie, I have to do this movie.'"
