Why Jennifer Love Hewitt Sent Matt Damon a Bed
Even Jennifer Love Hewitt admits she's "not a normal person."
After all, she once sent Matt Damon a bed, even though she'd never met him before.
The actress explained on " Jimmy Kimmel Live" Monday that she sent the gift after a spontaneous outpouring of empathy for the actor whose career had just taken off following his Oscar win for "Good Will Hunting."
"Well, I'm not a normal person," Hewitt, 35, said, prefacing her story.
"I was reading an article and he said this really sad thing about how all his dreams were coming true in the business and he was working really hard but he didn't ever feel like … that he had a bed of his own. He was just traveling so much," she told Kimmel.
Hewitt, who was 19 and starring in her own hit show "Party of Five," said, "I remember being really busy also and thinking that's so sad, to have all your dreams come true but to not feel like you have a solid foundation. So for some reason, I though an Aerobed would help that for him."

She continued with a laugh, "In my head, I was like, 'He can travel with it, then it's always his bed, always his safe place.'"
Hewitt admitted she probably should have run her idea by a friend, and "they would've been like, 'No, you're crazy, don't do it!' But I didn't."
Instead she found out Damon was filming in Paris, and shipped the Aerobed there.
Unfortunately, he didn't quite appreciate the gift.
"I never got a 'thank you,'" Hewitt admitted.
"It made me sad," she said, adding, "I understand maybe his security never gave it to him, that's a possibility."
Kimmel agreed. "It probably scared him," he said.
