Nov. 26: The National Hockey League Forms

On this day in 1917, the National Hockey League was formed at the historic first Board of Governors meeting at Montreal's Windsor Hotel, after the demise of the National Hockey Association. The league took to the ice that December. There are currently 30 teams - 23 in the U.S. and seven in Canada.
