1962 JFK Addresses the Economy

President Kennedy talked about unemployment and job creation in his 1962 State of the Union speech.  He talked of the challenges of inflation, wages and a competitive economy.  John F. Kennedy also expressed his hopes for America to be the first nation to put a man on the moon.

1989 President Reagan's Farewell Address

At the conclusion of his eight years in office, President Ronald Reagan addressed the nation for one last time from the Oval Office. The president reflected on the economic progress and foreign policy advancements of the 1980s.  He also expressed pride in the country's work ethic and morale.

2006 Alito's Confirmation Hearings

In 2005, President George W. Bush nominated Samuel Alito to replace Sandra Day O'Connor as associate justice of the Supreme Court.  In a video clip from the Senate confirmation hearings, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., asked Alito if he is a "closet bigot."

Alito was confirmed and assumed office Jan. 31, 2006.
