Tonight's Instant Index:

Miracle Shot The clock was closing in on zero when ninth grader Matt DeMember caught a pass with his back to the basket in his church league game. There was no time to turn around, so he heaved the ball over his head from beyond the three point line as the buzzer sounded and swished it. DeMember's team lost the game, but he made a memory that will last a lifetime.

'Ghastly' Portrait The first official portrait of Kate Middleton was unveiled today and it landed with a thud. Many said it makes Middleton look older, frumpy and is flat out unflattering.

Giant Squid Giant squids have been around since ancient times, but have largely been a mystery until now. The creature is more than 10 feet long and has eyes the size of dinner plates and razor-toothed suckers. The footage of the squid was filmed for a Discovery Channel show that is scheduled to air on Jan. 27.
