4:01 p.m. ET: Google Street View's 'dead donkey' image busted

When an image of a donkey lying in the road in the Kweneng region of Botswana showed up on Google Street View, social media erupted with accusations that the Street View car had hit the poor beast. But in a Jan. 16, 2013 blog post entitled "Never Ass-ume," Google showed evidence that the donkey was "probably enjoying a dust bath" when the car approached, then moved out of the way and was unharmed.

But Google Street View has caught people doing some bizarre things. See the full slideshow HERE

2:20 p.m. ET: DEVELOPING: Two U.S. officials tell ABC News that Americans are among the hostages held following the attack on a BP joint venture natural gas field in Algeria.

One of those, a senior intelligence official, says that currently it appears three U.S. citizens are being held. However, this official cautions that the numbers can change as can the overall number of hostages, which media reports now say is 41.
