Chicken Wing Shortage The Super Bowl is nine days away and a chicken wing shortage is on the horizon. This year there will be 12.3 million fewer wings because of last year's drought which drove up the price of chicken feed. Despite the shortage, Americans are expected to consume 1.23 billion wings on Super Bowl Sunday. The Super Bowl is the second biggest day for wings, Thanksgiving is the first.
