Watch Out for That Sinkhole

There was big trouble on a street in Toledo, Ohio, today when the earth beneath it suddenly buckled. A massive sinkhole opened up, swallowing a car and trapping Pamela Knox, 60, inside. The crater was at least 10-feet deep and the driver was stuck under concrete debris and bricks. A damaged water main gushed over the car as the stunned driver waited for someone to help her. Firefighters who arrived on the scene were able to get her out and she escaped without any serious injuries.

'Killer' Rescue Effort

A "killer" rescue effort in Australia happened today when a crew jumped into action to save a pod of stranded killer whales. Seven whales got stuck on a sandbar as they tried to reach deeper waters off Queensland's Frasier Island. The rescue team was overwhelmed but determined, pouring water over the orcas and pushing them inch by inch back into the water. Though five of the whales were saved, two of them did not make it.

Your Parents Are Who?

A match at one elementary school in the United Kingdom left some dads stunned. Imagine having to race against a soccer superstar whose kid goes to your kid's school. That is what happened when David Beckham showed up and easily won the "Dads Race" at his 8-year-old son Cruz's school. Barely breaking a sweat, Beckham led the pack of dads huffing and puffing to catch up. As for the "Moms Race," Victoria Beckham came in second to designer pal Stella McCartney.
