Police have arrested a  Russian journalist and historian after authorities discovered the remains of about 26 corpses in his apartment.

Anatoly Moskvin, 45, was detained in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod after police  found his small apartment filled with decaying remains, according to The Telegraph.

Moskvin had a fascination with cemeteries and had visited more than 750 of them, according to the Telegraph. He was apparently writing a book about the region’s cemeteries.

Moskvin reportedly dressed the corpses in women’s clothing as if they were dolls. The corpses were apparently all of young women between the ages of 15 and 25.

The Telegraph said this morbid collection was initially discovered by Moskvin’s parents when they returned from their summer house to the apartment they share with their son.

Police said it appeared that Moskvin had dug up two local graveyards to get the skeletal remains.
