2012 End-of-the-World Countdown Based on Mayan Calendar Starts Today

The countdown to the apocalypse is on.
We’re one year away from Dec. 21, 2012, the date that the ancient Mayan Long Count calendar allegedly marked as the end of an era that would reset the date to zero and signal the end of humanity.
But will it?
There have been many end of times predictions over the years. Christian radio host Harold Camping faced widespread ridicule when his predictions that the world would end twice this year – on May 21, and then on Oct. 21 – failed to materialize.
But in the flurry of doomsday predictions – there have been similar dire warnings about the world coming to an end from various cultures, including Native Americans, the Chinese, Egyptians and even the Irish — the supposed Mayan prophecy seems to have held the most sway with believers.
The Mayan civilization, which reached its height from 300 A.D. to 900 A.D., had a talent for astronomy. Advanced mathematics and primitive astronomy flourished, creating what many have called the most accurate calendar in the world.
The Mayans predicted a final event that included a solar shift, a Venus transit and violent earthquakes.
Their Long Count calendar begins in 3,114 B.C., marking time in roughly 394-year periods known as Baktuns. Thirteen was a significant, sacred number for the Mayas, and they wrote that the 13th Baktun ends on Dec. 21, 2012.
The doomsday theories stem from a stone tablet discovered in the 1960s at the archaeological site of Tortuguero in the Gulf of Mexico state of Tabasco that describes the return of a Mayan god at the end of a 13th period.
“The Maya are viewed by many westerners as exotic folks that were supposed to have had some special, secret knowledge,” said Mayan scholar Sven Gronemeyer. “What happens is that our expectations and fears get projected on the Maya calendar.”
Gronemeyer, of La Trobe University in Australia, compares the supposed Mayan prophecies to the “Y2K” hype, when people feared all computer systems would crash when the new millennium began on Jan. 1, 2000.
For some reason, Gronemeyer says, people have ignored evidence that dates beyond 2012 were recorded.
The blogosphere exploded with more speculation when Mexico’s archaeology institute acknowledged on Nov. 24 a second reference to Dec. 21, 2012, on a brick found at other ruins.
“Human beings seem to be attracted by apocalyptic ideas and always assume the worst,” Gronemeyer said.
Believers have taken the end-of-the world fears to the Internet with hundreds of thousands of websites and blogs. Yet others are capitalizing on the heightened interest. Films depicting the end of the world – including the 2009 movie, “2012″ – are contributing to the mounting hype as well as to misinformation, experts say.
In southern Mexico, the heart of Maya territory, a yearlong celebration is planned.
Mexico’s tourism agency expects to draw 52 million visitors by next year only to the regions of Chiapas, Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Campeche. All of Mexico usually lures about 22 million foreigners in a year.
It’s selling the date, the Winter Solstice in the coming year, as a time of renewal. Many archeologists argue that the 2012 reference on a 1,300-year-old stone tablet only marks the end of a cycle in the Mayan calendar.
“The world will not end. It is an era,” said Yeanet Zaldo, a tourism spokeswoman for the Caribbean state of Quintana Roo, home to Cancun. “For us, it is a message of hope.”
For those who are thinking about how to spend what could be their last year on earth, here’s another message of hope: According to recent research, the mythological date of the “end of days” may be off by 50 to 100 years.
To convert the ancient Mayan calendar to the Gregorian (or modern) calendar, scholars use a numerical value (called the GMT). But Gerardo Aldana, a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, has said the data supporting the widely-adopted conversion factor may be invalid.
Aldana isn’t the only detractor.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration – yes, that’s NASA – has also weighed in on the issue.
The agency’s scientists posted answers to the most popular questions about the end-of-times theory associated with the prophecy.
“Remember the Y2K scare? It came and went without much of a whimper because of adequate planning and analysis of the situation. Impressive movie special effects aside, Dec. 21, 2012, won’t be the end of the world as we know,” the 2009 web page post says.
The answers addressed questions about whether there were any known threats to the Earth and the truth about the calendar.
One of answers posted was to the question of the possible approach of Nibiru (or Planet X or Eris), a supposed wayward planet that is said could pose a threat to Earth. The answer was a definitive rejection of the idea.
“Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax,” scientists wrote. “There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.”
ABC News’ Susan Donaldson James and The Associated Press contributed to this story.

The countdown to the apocalypse is on? The Mayans never said that. That’s because a Hollywood Movie was made on the fear of apocalypse(2012). The Mayan interpretation was that of a “New Age”. I can see that happening already and could culminate by 12/12! Global economy, for example. The failure of our money system, etc.. The falling of a Superpower. We are geared up already for it. I think the Mayans have it figured out correctly.

Technically the tablets do not say it will be the “end of the world”…it will be the end of their calendar, the most accurate calendar in existence on the face of this earth, AND in 2012, the sun will be due for another magnetic pole shift. Funny thing is, the earth’s magnetic poles have also been shifting ever so slightly…and have shifted over 30%. So, who’s to say that the Mayan Calendar’s end doesn’t just mean the end of an era (after all , there were dates recorded after that), and the beginning of something new. If the magnetic poles shifted do you have any idea what that would do to things here on earth…not only physical, but in our own ways of thinking and how it would effect our bodies. I believe, yes, something will happen (for all we know it could be a war…lord knows enough of them are bubbling on the horizon of some near future time)…the end of earth, NO…but, it could be the beginning of something we are not prepared for. Just a thought ;-)

Just on a side note, Harold Camping did not predict the end of the world twice. He said the rapture would happen in May and the end of the world would come in October. Two totally different events, get your story correct!!! This leads me to another point.. “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” – Matthew 24:36. Stop trying to predict the end of times, you will be wrong… “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” – Matthew 24:42-44

This is moroic and a FOR PROFIT commercialization of the Myan calander story. The calander DOES NOT AND HAS NEVER CLAIMED TO PREDICT THE END OF THE WORLD. The calader is cyclical and simply resets.

i do not believe the world is coming to an end. I do agree with dianne hill and gdguynbalt about it being something big that we were not prepared for. Because they did predict dates up to the y4k. So why would they say its the end of the world in 12-21-2012? I am a christian and i know what it says in the bible. So i am going to contiue to live my life without fear and let life take its course. But i strongly disagree with the whole “end of the world”

The only thing that will happen is that naive people who have been sold on this crazed fiction will live the remaining 365 days they think they have left on the total edge; gaffing off responsibilities and living for the day. They will drop any financial and moral obligations to society, their families, their communities and do immoral acts they would never even consider just for the thrill. A bucket list of their desires before the end. Nothing wrong with a bucket list unless it includes immoral and criminal acts like robbing a bank to obtain the money to obtain the kilo of cocaine and 20 hookers you want to spend the last days with; unless you’re Charlie Sheen and have the money at hand already! LOL!

…..The end of ones world is a very real thing, and even over due for technical reasons. Since the 2nd coming has already come, and nearly gone, [he was partially responsible for the current economic crisis], and hence the need to go back in time. Not to far back, but none the less, it will be another end of some peoples world, and it will NOT occur in 2012.

All of you just sit back and be pessimistic.. You will decry the I shoulda’s if you are not prepared. I am not saying that the world will cease to exist or the totality of humanity. But if any of you naysayers have not done any archealogical studying, then you would not be aware of the correlation of Mayans, the Chinese , nor the Egytpian predictions. Still to this day, there has NOT been a definitive answer in ancient laungage for these societies on how they built these temples in the middle of nowhere and moved such enormous stones and then aligned them perectly in numerous remote locations. Technology in space today has mapped with laser technology that all of the Mayna and Egyptian temples are symmetric with each other with geographical precision. Another point to consider for US, History is bound to repeat itself. Look at all the great democracies throughout history, what was the ultimate demise that led to thier downfall??? Money.. We are there now, We cannot recover from the 15 plus trillion dollar deficit, the world has 7 billion plus inhabitant and cannot support the masses even with todays technology, and scientists predicted already by 2032 it will take 2.5 earths cuurent output to support an expected 14 plus billion people! Go ahead and sit back the end may not come in the form of total anihilation of earth, but the new age, where the life as we know it, collapses as the dollar does. You still have time to stock food water, and bartering essentials. Those of you in the bigger cities plan. better to be prepared and nothing happen than to sit back and go, oh no… what are we going to do now to protect our families when the price of a loaf of bread is 10 bucks, gas is 10 dollars a gallon? Tthis is not meant to scare anyone, just facts based on world events today. Whatever your faith is, follow that and your gut. Id rather have 2 years food storage and second ammendment rights, so if the world encounters total economic meltdown and paper money is useless or totally devaluated. I can eat and live off the land. Only the Bible says that God knows the end. But it also gives dire predictions leading up to the end. We are seeing them manifest in our world today.. Wake up people, at a minimum regardless of what the ancients prophcized, the reality IS the world cannot continue to operate anymore like business as usual. So get prepared..If nothing happens great.. only thing lost then is $ and those still working can always make more.. Start watching the History channel or Nat Geo, use the internet to read real articles not blogs from educated individuals who spent thier whole lives studying ancient text and civilizations, then make up your own mind.

I studied the Mayan Calendar extensively since the 1980′s and I am so sick of all this apocalypse garbage. The Mayans did not predict “the end of the world.” They observed astrological cycles and made calendars to follow these cycles which constantly repeat themselves. Stop with the fear mongering already! Better yet, read a book titled “Catastrophobia.”

there is an ice age every 10,000 years caused by a polar shift? the planets alinging and our solar system moving into the rift? solar bursts from the suns polar shift emitting gamma rays? if you knew for sure this was going to happen would you continue to contribute to society? would you find faith? would you be the best person possible? use this as an opportunity to become a better person and you might save the human race.

Some good could come out of this. We are always told that, to truly enjoy life, we must live each day as if it were our last. Now I don’t believe that the world will end on 12-21-12, but what if it does? What if, on that date, there is something you hadn’t done that you really wanted to do? We’re all going to die, it might be today in a car crash, or next month from a heart attack, or next year on 12-21-12. What if it is? What haven’t you done? Why not?

We don’t really know the exact time the world will change. Change it will. Several unrelated reports all give the 21/12/2012 as the day.
The changing of signs take place next year on the 12/12/12 this occur every 6000 years, the planets are in line, this occurs every 26000 years, the Mayan calender end time. Man can only thing of disaster. We know the world is in a mess in many ways. Why, because of man’s selfishness, greed, one-sided academically education and his loss of his spirit self.
How will man change? he will not give up his power, arrogance, greed, corruptive ways. How any millionaires billionaire have we now, Man forgets he come’s with nothing and goes with nothing. it’s it only a small minority who have the wealth. On Yahoo a few days ago it said something like 30% or Americans we poor.
How can man change, the only answer is, by spiritual means, the forces out there, God or the creator your choice what you believe, could telepathically change all our thoughts, so that on the 22/12/2012 man wakes up to a new world, greed corruption, selfishness ect. ect. as been cleared from out thoughts, and we become a society who cares for everything and everybody, we work together respect each other and more importantly respect the Earth.
What part of us moves on, but, our SPIRIT, millions of people through out time have reported this, many have had experiences.
A spiritual awakening is on the way, whether we like it or not. Children born now-a-days have an uncanny knowledge they are born with it. Man cannot play around with SPIRIT, Man cannot create life, Spirit is life, without a spirit we die, whether it be plants, animals, humans ect.
Watch this space …………………………………..

Won’t matter if you’re rich or poor, dem or rep, when your money is worthless..we’ll all be on the same playing field! People should stock up, just to be prepared. Have a place to get to away from the cities where you have stored water, food and goods. Not to be pessimistic, but just being pro-active for your family. Not everyone will be spared..but some will survive. That goes for any catastrophic event, manmade or otherwise.

Well said Captain Kirk.

First – the Maya calendar is the end of an era not the end of the world. Second – researchers have noted increased natural earth activities when past Maya calendars have ended before. Depending on the natural earth activies (blizzards, tornados, earth quakes, etc) We could see disruptions to supply chains, etc which could cause panic since most grocery stores have enough stock for about 3 days – and as Captin Kirk’s posting noted – I would much be prepared and not need it instead of sitting back and saying nothing is going to happen and find I can not feed my family.

Hello America, Dec Eight Maids A Milking day 2011,
What could the Mayan’s possibly know about anything?
They couldn’t even make a wheel.
Do you know just how old the world is? really old, really really old.
and it has had many. many cataclisms before and many many to come.
for example: The Super Volcano of the Yellowstone Caldera.
erupted 640,000 years ago and spread ash over 98% of the United States.
it appears from all ash studies to be overdue on its 600,000 year cycle.
so lets not worry what the Mayan’s think.
sincerely Fezzy Bear

thank you Peter and Theresa. I state to all the naysayers those that place thier survival and that of thier loved ones solely in the hands of GOD, listen… GOD gave us free will… it is definitive in the Bible and paraphrased in our very own Constitution. So… you have free will and if you choose to and it is your right too, to disregard Science that supports ancient writings as well as biblical references that are clear and concise, so be it. don’t stock up, do not have a “Bug Out plan to a remote area away from the big cities and masses. I was stuck 6 hours in a car (lucky I had afull tank) in the LA riots trying to get from LA airport to San fernando valley and was trapped! the city was On fire for 6 hours to get a mere 23 miles! Panic.. I tried 9 different ways to get home. the streets and roads clogged to a standstill.. Mayhem. then came the 94 Quake in Sanfernando Valley, that paralized the city too, instant price gouging for bottled water. The polulace outnumbered the authorities 10000 to 1. Now if events like those can send the masses into a frenzy and an all out it is me or you scenario due to hunger and thirst, what will we do when the Dollar cannot buy anything? One major catstrpohe can cripple our fragile infrastructure. All the stores and minimarts maybe hold enough supplies for a day or two in the large cities when amassed and that is if and only if buying quotas were enforced, who could manage that? Not the authorities.. Panic buying would eat up, everything in days everywhere. been there done that with the 94 quake. It took FEMA 5 days to just get water everywhere in the city. So, take your time then, Look at recent middle east events and what the people are doing to each other there for food and water, forget electricty, or niceties. just trying to find food and water to continue to exist. so I say again science is now showing a shift in the universe and the planets magnetic feild for which everything we know and use today is based on Sinosodial waveforms and magnetic energy. if just that dynamic changes when our galagy aligns, forget the cell phone, TV, stable electricty, all the way down to how our bodies react to magnetic feilds. I a 40% ready and will be 90% by october, The world is a cruel place. Your free will and chioces made now will determine your existance and the quality if a major earth event does happen. being prepared is not paraniod if done quietly and moderatley. No one can fault anyone for being prepared for a potential. It is forcing that belief onto others that make others feel one is fanatical. Hence the term conservative planning. And hey if the world does take aturn for the better, economy jobs, prosperity, great! hope it does… but if it continues on this decline. I will be eating good, drinking clean water and away from the masses.. Never a bad thing to have a Plan B.

I can only hope this is true…We don’t deserve this place. Mother Earth would be much happier if she could rid her lands of the parasites (people) that are trying to destroy her. Even if its not a complete eradication, an event that eliminates 90% of the people on this planet might be enough to start over and maybe do it right the second time around??

Interesting discussion. I kinda agree with Mike G.: I can only hope this is true. But I also agree with Shamiguichi: Only God knows. I am soooo thankful that God is in control and not us human creatures. When you see all the “naughtiness” we humans do, we don’t deserve to live any longer. We must thank God every day for giving us another day of life, and then it is up to us to make it as good as we can for God’s sake not ours.
Merry Christmas!!

see Mission Impossible 4, the entire movie is based on a false flag attack which sparks nuclear retaliation which would result in the end of the world as we know it in the interest of establishing one world government/future world peace. On a few occasions the characters remarked that the people going about their every day lives have NO idea the world is about to end. Please do keep in mind the Corporations responsible for flicks like MI-4 have an agenda, they have messages they want portrayed with their particular spin. Fact is, 2012 is the deadline, it always has been, I cannot guarantee the world will end, but I can almost GUARANTEE we do not get through it unscathed. People need to WAKE UP, and UNDERSTAND, 9/11 DID HAPPEN, the people responsible who control your life put the pieces in place, and next year will make their move. In addition, it should be noted that the Mayans were never wrong in their forecasts, and the other prophecies ALL pointing to the same calendar year are somewhat credible sources. NASA has already confirmed a worst case scenario regarding the solar max in October 12′ which could slaughter your I-phones, etc. But the bottom line here is that one fact is for sure, we are all going along for the ride whether we like it or not…

According to documentaries in the 1970′s narrated by Rod Serling(In Search Of Ancient Astronauts – 1973) and Leonard Nimoy(In Search Of Mayan Mysteries – 1978), the real end date is December 24th, 2011 which is less than four days away.

I do beleive something will happen. It could be the magnetic shift, gravitational pull,or alians comeing to earth. More than likely it will be mankind getting in a frenzy over what he or she beleves will happen. Rest assure of one thing though. We will all know the truth the day after.

Some things to think about:
Drillling and mining primordial fossil fuels, place holders for tectonic plates, leave an unpredictable tipping point too long ignored. In spite of JPLs and Germany calculations and conclsion that the effects are “negligible” — concerning the earth’s position relative to the sun after the collapse of San Jose gold and copper mine in Chile’s northern Atacama desert, the Sespe oil field continues to top 812 degree F temp, the earth’s crust has increased in temp more than 2 degrees, the magnetic north pole has shifted. If we throw enough ballast overboard from Mothership Earth (ie., combust fuel, send out space garbage) a slight nudge (like a solar flare) could rock our boat’s core and tip us way off course. Every ship has it’s “perfect storm” to avoid. I’d say seeding the clouds with silver nitrate isn’t the most far reaching counter-measure to prevent suffocation. For those who missed the Biopshere II bionauts life-saving departure from their prototype biome: CO2 levels that “fluctuated wildly” and most of the vertebrate species and all of the pollinating insects died, concrete still curing absorbed oxyen until human’s could not tolerate the change in ambient air constiuents. The thing is: “we can’t leave here” (ISS isn’t big enough, lunar villages are not yet sustainable and Mar’s has more CO2 than we have here. Carl Sagan’s Elly Arroway asks “how do we survive our technolgical innocence.” Technological superiority means recognizing the planet got it right the first time. When nature plants algae in a bay — it is nature’s way of saying — human”s are asfixiating themselves out of here (cancel the sail boat races for the forseeable future.). As for ash bore disease and all the other excuses humans make to cut down natural CO2 uptake scrubbers and issue plastic credit cards as compensation — well ambrosia bettles do not eat plastic. Where are the replacement trees? The meek inheriting the earth look alot like bacteria, parasites, insects whose natural homes have been dug out for electricity and paved over for parking lots and high rises. At this rate, one really big solar flare, and there will be a lot more consequences than a geomagnetic reversal.
After all, the earth’s crust’s temperature has risen several degrees, CO2 is being released from the ocean, the magnetic pole has shifted, sespe oil field temperature was last reported at 812 F

About Y2K — I reported the 1st power outage in the US to emergency operations at about 2 am EST. A car slid on the ice and hit a utlity pole fell over and pulled down the power lines. One half of an entire zip code was shut down until 5 a.m. The lesson is: observed anecdotal evidence is superior to technological superiority (advanced sensing and advanced software) every time. The evidence-based crowd knows how to bias data really, really well. As polar bears continue to drown the powers-that-be seem to be ignorant of what weapons of mass destruction are: the cummulative effects of anthropogenic forcing, thermoplastic implants. On December 30, 2006 a news release was finally issued that a large section of the artic ice shelf broke off months and months before. It’s placement (the equivalent of the second to last page of an old fashion hard copy news paper; front page “Sudam Hussein” executed for WMD. Kind of reminds me of the pot calling the kettle black.

For many people there is a never ending quest to predict the end of the world. The Mayans don’t say the world will end in 2012, but they believe that the way of life as we know it will end then.
Besides, only God the Father knows when the world will end, and I believe the Bible makes note that the Second Coming and end of the world will happen when you least expect it.

I think everyone should live as if it were their last year of life. Because this will give you the attitude of trying to live everyday as if you are soon to be judge by GOD or whatever higher power you believe in. This thought process cause most people to be nicer to everyone around them. Only GOD knows when mans time on Earth stop. It is awful egotistical of mankind to think that if we where no longer on earth that the Earth will no longer exist. Other living things on this planet outdate mankind, even in the Bible Man was the last thing GOD created. We do not know how long their days were in refernce to now, a day could have really been a year or 10 for all we know. So using ancient calanders and texts will always be up to different inturpertations. So Panicing at every “End-of-the-world” deadline, is just not worth the effort. Being prepared to meet your maker, having enough to feed and care for your loved ones, and living in harmony with your surrondings & neigbors, will always get you through the unexpected events in life. So stop worry about when the world ends and worry about living in the “now” with a loving heart.

The big misunderstanding is that the Mayan calendar predicts the apocalypse which bad reporting and journalism like this promote. Not to mention the bad movies and other fear mongering that takes place surrounding the subject. The truth is the Mayan calendar predicts the cycles of the earth and has been the most accurate calendar to date in predicting solar events and earth changes. However, that end date is simply to signify the end of an earth cycle and the beginning of a new earth cycle. In fact, that’s why many people believe that global warming is nothing more than the symptoms of the change the earth is going through. Saying that the mayan calendar signifies the end of the world is ludicrous. The media just likes to scare people. If you want to worry about something, worry about the NDAA bill the president just signed into law.

Obviously a lot of people have forgotten the word of the lord. God is the only one that knows when the end will come, not even his own son, Jesus, knows. We gotta get close to God. It is sad to see how faith is disappearing.

I have been reading that the real date of the end of the Mayan Calander is Dec. 24, 2011 not Dec. 21, 2012. Not that I believe any of it, but if you google Dec. 24, 2011 you will see.

Thought of the day: If all of these 2012 end of the world, doomsday predictions by the wack job myans are supposed to be true, then can anyone out there in the world who actually really believes it, explain to me what December 21, 2012 calendar we are going off of, because the Chinese calendar is currently in the year 4710, and the Jewish calendar is currently in the year 5772? Does that mean that the Chinese and the Jewish will be the ones that survive?

Way to go all mass media with these lies. Seems responsible. You are a joke writer, and so are your bosses. The true year in the calendar is 2087, NOT 2012, but since we are here, and 2012 just has a ring to it, there is no point even bringing light to the fact.

Robin at 8:41 was wrong about Harold Camping – it’s not just that he changed his story a bit this year when the Rapture didn’t happen in May, but he’d also predicted it a few decades ago, and had to “fix” his numerology. However, he’s right on about how the Bible says we’re not going to know the day or the hour until it arrives, which is one reason we shouldn’t take advice from people like Camping.
Meanwhile, the true meaning of the Mayan Calendar rollover is simple – it says it’s time to get yourself a new block of stone and start carving yourself a new refrigerator magnet, because the one you’ve got now only goes up to next December.
Posted by: Bill in San Francisco | December 23, 2011, 5:19 pm 5:19 pm
Whoever wrote this is a moron. The Mayan Calendar does NOT predict the end of the world. The calendar is cyclical and the “long count” on it is merely resetting itself. It’s like us putting up new calendar each year! The Mayan Calendar is merely entering the what they referred to as the 6th world. Clearly the earth has survived 5 other of these calendar resets.

The world’s oldest and most detailed, first and complete word of God “Krishna” is the Vedic scriptures. In them they describe the 4 ages that creation exists through. The current 4 th and final age is Kali Yuga “the age of quarrel and disagreement”, but we are only 5,000 years into what is more than a 355,000 year old cycle. While there may be wars, disasters, horrific events and also amazing events, it is not going to be the end of the world for several hundred thousand years. True life on the planet can change, diminish, grow, expand, or dwindle some, but I can assure you that the so called “Maya” prediction is nonsense. Read the Vedic texts which have been perfectly translated by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and be amazed. Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita, Bhagavad Gita, Sri Isopanisad and much more translated into English and languages worldwide by him. Rest easy that God is not destroying the planet next year.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY IS KILLING OUR PLANET!!! But we all still seem to contribute with the latest new fad! I don’t have a DVD player, mobile phone etc….. I was happy before they came along, I don’t feel that moving with the times is benefiting ANYONE… All it does is speed up the inevitable, the world will end someday for certain species!! BUT ignorance is bliss, be happy with the simple things in life like the love of friends and family, maybe then we can slow the apocalypse down? technology won’t stop it, only inform us of what damage has happened! Forget about it!! The economic crisis will kill us before ANY apocalypse!!

That’s so sad that you wrote such a long article apparently on something you know nothing about. If you have actually read or researched anything, you would know the Mayans did not predict the end of the world, just an end of a cycle. No one on this earth knows, let alone dome ancient Indians know when the apocalypse will be. Its a PROPHESY. It doesn’t mean their word is gospel. Hoe many times did Nostradamus?? Indicated the world to end? Has it happened yet? No? Ok so move on. And even if it is the end times, you won’t know cuz you will be dead. Maybe we should all just live, be happy, and love one another for what time we do have. Life is a blessing, not a guarantee.

So many people ..So many oppinions.Thought I would share mine.I am not myan so I will not speak to the remarks made about the calender.Do not know how to “translate” their symbols etc.Other than it has consistantly been refered to as just that a calender.I am a christian and do know that no one will know the day and time of his coming.”the true end of the world”.Living in a hurricane prone area I do know also this. When a storm is coming gas stations sell out of gas, grocery stores sell out of bread and peanut butter.PANDAMONIUM…Their are those who truly believe that a hurricane with 100 mph winds will wipe them off the map.I have to make sure I get MY extra gas tanks filled because 1000 others are going to cause shortages.NOW….lets blow that up to the 10s of thousands across this nation who truly believe the end of time is coming.Or we are truly in for years of troubled times.I have learned from living in this area of our country that I must keep at least 2 weeks supply thru hurricane season of basic neccesities.Just in case. Will it be PANDAMONIUM…who knows. But you should be prepared for not knowing what shortages you will have due to others.Personally I will be up at 5am 12/22/12 getting ready for work and if I think about it…Will check this blog and read all the interesting oppinions about the TRUE second coming and end of time as we humans know it.

i just spent several days in Quintana Roo. i spoke with the Mayans. I told them what “The Americans” have said about Dec 21, 2012 as being the “end of the world” because of “their calendar” Their reply was ….Americans are nuts and that they made it up for Hollywood to make a movie and to scare people” The true meaning is: it is the end of an ERA of GREED, SELFISHNESS, AND THE BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA OF HAPPINESS, LOVE AND KINDNESS.
THAT’S THE TRUTH. Not some made up American story…….

It is not the end of the world! It is an evolution of the world. NASA agrees with the positions of the earth, moon, sun, solar systtem and the galaxy and on Dec. 21 the Sun will have some huge eruptions which will reach very far and it will change the magnetic field here on earth/.Humans are not use to these type of “storms” and because of the way we are many of us will perish and a small percentage of the earth’s population will remain and will be given the responsibility of continuing with mankind……..it is not pretty…..but it is real. THE WORLD IS NOT ENDING………..It is changing

Some good could come out of this. We are always told that, to truly enjoy life, we must live each day as if it were our last. Now I don’t believe that the world will end on 12-21-12, but what if it does? What if, on that date, there is something you hadn’t done that you really wanted to do? We’re all going to die; it might be today in a car crash, or next month from a heart attack, or next year on 12-21-12. What if it is? What haven’t you done? Why not? “You don’t get to choose how you’re going to die, or when. You can only decide how you’re going to live now.” -Joan Baez

Beyond a response, like that of the “End of Days” predictions for 2012, to instill yet more fear in people, especially in those making excessive preparations for survival, & based on rational thought, please answer a simple question. If the world event predictions are true, which says we are to die & no person will be able to survive dooms day, that would mean our entire existence is limited to & most certainly not extend beyond 12/2012. Then why are we being told to, moreover, in preparation of survival, to stock, store, & save items like food or money in international banks, etc., if we will not be able to make use of it. After all we will all be DEAD! More importantly, if not for the purpose of instilling fear & sales profits for business, why ask or tell people of an event that we not only will have NO CONTROL, to prepare for what will ultimately be our doom. HOW DO YOU PREPARE TO DIE & IN FEAR? It would seem that this harsh reality would have best been served in ignorance rather than create heart failure some & others knowingly scared to death & lacking the ability to control the death headed toward their loved ones & themselves all at once.

The world has been changing daily since our birth, so has the economy. The stock market crash of 1929, made many rich men poor, commit suicide b/c they couldn’t image life beyond riches, poor people died w/ most of the impoverished (those that cannot be classified) already surviving b/c they already knew what & how to survive on the nothing they already did not have. The true believer’s w/ faith in God, that do not praise his name in one breath & take back their will in the next, know he said “The meek shall inherit the earth” as well as “Those who believe in me shall not be hungry or thirsty for I am your food and your wine”. As a believer, I know will perish only when it is his will for me to join him in the comfort & glory of heaven, & not one day before or after. Those who walk w/ him walk in his glory untouched.

Yess indeed it is but this doesn’t happen in one day its happening already look around you economic crisis, weather crisis, global crisis e.t.c judgement has begun already this doesn’t happen in a day either its begun way longer than you can imagine, sorry to say for all you waiting for a trumpet to sound you would never hear it, and all you waiting for the son of man you would never see him, we humans are so blind even if he is to come right now how many of us would recognise him truth is no one will, even when jesus came how many of us saw him for who he was at end didn’t we muder him only to call him saviour when he was gone. He humans have lost our way all that is considered right today is all wrong, our way of life, beliefs, education, religion as been turned upside down. The world is already in judgement that is why you see all these events happening all around you I need not mention them. Open your eyes at last you all we have very little time left. He who genuinely seeks for truth would find the right path which would lead him upwards to the LIGHT.
