Authorities in Los Angeles today plan to resume their search of a portion of the Hollywood Hills area after more human body parts were discovered.

On Wednesday, Los Angeles Police found two hands and two feet near where dog walkers found a severed head while hiking earlier this week.

The dog walkers were hiking near a trail below the Hollywood sign.

"While the dogs were playing with it, at some point the object came out of the bag and they discovered it was a head; a severed head," Los Angeles police Sgt. Mitzi Fierro told ABC News Los Angeles station KABC on Wednesday.

Police said the head belongs to a man, about 40 to 60 years in age.

Authorities are working to identify the man and believe that the body parts belong to the same person, KABC reported.

"We believe that this crime, this homicide occurred somewhere else and the body parts we have found have been transported here at a later date after the homicide occurred," LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith told KABC.
