"ABC World News" Narrows Demo Gap with "NBC Nightly News" by 38%, Year-to-Year

ABC Newscast Outperforms CBS by Largest Adults 25-54 Margin Since December

For the week of March 5, 2012, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.55 million Total Viewers and a 1.7 rating/6 share/2.03 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.   

"World News"  narrowed its week-to-week gaps with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits among both Total Viewers (-17% - 1.35 million vs. 1.62 million) and Adults 25-54 (-14% - 424,000 vs. 491,000) , delivering its smallest Total Viewer margin with the NBC newscast in 5 weeks - since w/o 1/30/12.  In addition, for the 2nd time in the last 3 weeks, "World News" decreased its year-ago Adults 25-54 gap with "Nightly News" (-38% - 424,000 vs. 687,000).

"World News" has cut its season-to-date gaps with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-5%) and Adults 25-54 (-18%), posting its smallest Total Viewer (1.10 million) and news demo margins (376,000) with the NBC program in 3 years - since the 2008-09 season.

"ABC World News" outperformed the "CBS Evening News" by 1.24 million Total Viewers and by 334,000 Adults 25-54, posting its largest Adults 25-54 advantage since December - since w/o 12/26/11.
