"GMA" is Posting its Smallest Total Viewer and Adults 25-54 Margins With "Today" in 16 Years Season to Date

 " GMA" Up Year to Year in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54, While "Today" Declines

According to Fast National Data, "GMA" is Ahead of "Today" For the Current Week (Mon-Weds) by +220K Total Viewers

  Season to Date, "GMA" Grows in Total Viewers and Demo Year to Year, While "Today" & "CBS This Morning" Decline

ABC News' "Good Morning America" drew 5.010 million Total Viewers and a 1.6 rating/12 share/1.940 million Adults 25-54 for the week of April 16, 2012. For the 3rd week in a row, "GMA" posted gains on the year-earlier week in both Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+15%) - 4.812 million and 1.694 million, respectively, on w/o 4/18/11 - while "Today" saw decreases (-3%/-3%, respectively). Additionally, Goodmorningamerica.com had 14.8 million more unique users than Today.com in March.

"We are thrilled where we are right now and our team is delivering a great show every day. A year ago, I don't think anyone would have believed that we would be trading days and weeks with the 'Today Show,'" said Tom Cibrowski, senior executive producer.

With the Mon-Wed Fast Nationals in for the current week so far, GMA is ahead of Today by +220,000 Total Viewers (5.261 million vs. 5.041 million). GMA ranked #1 on Tuesday (+404,000) and Wednesday (+288,000), and was only behind by -44,000 on Monday (5.304 million vs. 5.348 million).  Additionally, in the key adult news demo, GMA placed first on Tuesday by +84,000 A25-54 (2.161 million vs. 2.078 million). This marks the first GMA single day win in the demo in nearly 4 years - since 7/18/08 (excluding specials). The A25-54 gap for the week is -56,000, the smallest demo gap in over 16 years -  since the week of 11/27/95 (week after Thanksgiving in '95) 

"GMA" slashed its margins with "Today" from the year-ago week by more than half in both Total Viewers (-58% - 243,000 vs. 577,000) and nearly in half in Adults 25-54 (-45% - 379,000 vs. 695,000) "GMA" has cut its year-to-year Adults 25-54 margin with the NBC program by double-digits in the last 16 weeks, and in 30 of 31 weeks this season.

Season to date, "GMA" narrowed its gaps in both Total Viewers (-41%) and Adults 25-54 (-43%) versus its year-ago season gaps.  In fact "GMA" is posting its smallest Total Viewer (474,000) and Adults 25-54 (429,000) margins with "Today" in 16 years - since the 1995-96 Season.

"GMA" beat "CBS This Morning" by +98% in Total Viewers (5.010 million vs. 2.527 million) and by +93% in Adults 25-54 (1.940 million vs. 1.007 million).  

Season to date "GMA" is the only morning program to grow in Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+8%) versus its year-ago averages (NBC's "Today:" -2%/-7%, respectively; CBS' "This Morning:" -9%/-11%, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 5 years, since 2006-07.
