Alan Horn Named Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios

Alan Horn, a prominent figure in the film and television industry, was named chairman of The Walt Disney Studios today.

Horn will oversee worldwide operations for The Walt Disney Studios, including the production, distribution and marketing for films from Disney, Pixar and Marvel. He will also be in charge of marketing and distribution for DreamWorks Studios films released under the Touchstone Pictures banner and managing Disney's musical and theatrical divisions.

Horn has led creative teams for some of the world's biggest movie and television hits, including the Harry Potter film franchise and Seinfeld.

He most recently served as president and COO of Warner Bros. entertainment. During his 12-year tenure, Warner Bros. released a slew of critically acclaimed films, including The Dark Knight, Happy Feet, The Departed and Million Dollar Baby.

"I'm incredibly excited about joining The Walt Disney Company, one of the most iconic and beloved entertainment companies in the world," Horn said.

Prior to joining Warner Bros., Horn co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment, where he oversaw the creation of an impressive list of Oscar-nominated films, including The Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men and The Green Mile.
