ABC’s “This Week” Ranks as the No. 1 Public Affairs Program in the Key Adult Demo

“This Week” Stands as the Only Sunday Morning Public Affairs Program to Grow Week-to-Week

On June 3, 2012, ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” drew 2.200 million Total Viewers and 700,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” ranked as the No. 1 public affairs program in the key adults demo, taking the top spot in beating both NBC’s “Meet the Press” and CBS’ “Face the Nation” for the first time in 2 years - since 6/27/10.

“This Week” surged from its week-ago performance (1.525 million and 511,000 on 5/27/12) in both Total Viewers (+44%) and Adults 25-54 (+37%). In fact, “This Week” stood as the only Sunday morning public affairs program to grow week-to-week compared to NBC’s “Meet the Press” (-2%-8%) and CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-4%/-11%).

“This Week” beat “Face the Nation” by its largest Adults 25-54 margin of the season (+38,000 – 700,000 vs. 662,000), while trailing the CBS program by its smallest gap of the season in Total Viewers (-171,000 – 2.200 million vs. 2.371 million).

“This Week” outperformed NBC’s “Meet the Press” by +13,000 Adults 25-54 (700,000 vs. 687,000), as the NBC program attracted in its smallest news demo audience in 20 years – since 7/5/92 (regular telecasts).
