Hockey Mom Goes Rogue, Storms Ice to Break Up Fight

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin made the joke, "You know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick!" famous in her speech at the 2008 Republican National Convention.

Now a real-life hockey mom from the Boston area has made the joke true.

The mom, whose identity remains a mystery, was caught on tape jumping to her son's defense during a fight among players in a game between the Boston Raptors and Tribe, teams representing Boston youth summer programs.

Video of the game posted on YouTube shows the woman, wearing a pink jacket and still grasping her purse, going rogue, as Palin herself would say, marching onto the ice with her finger pointed screaming at the players and referees to break up the fight.

Spectators in the background can be heard yelling at the mom to get off the ice, while another pointed out that one of the refs was "just standing there," according to local ABC affiliate WCVB.

Despite the embarrassment she may have caused to her son, the woman's mother's intuition worked. The fight quickly ended once she was out on the ice.
