For USA Olympians It's Berets and Blazers Again
Team USA will be marching into the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony in Ralph Lauren blazers and berets, much as they did four years ago when Lauren dressed them.
The U.S. Olympic Committee along with Lauren, the official outfitter of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team, unveiled Team USA's Opening and Closing Ceremony Parade Uniform today.
At the Opening Ceremony July 27 in London, the women of Team USA will wear a white blouse, navy blazer and a red, white and blue striped scarf with a knee length cream skirt. The men will wear white collared shirts under a navy blazer with a red and navy neck tie and cream trousers. All of the U.S. Olympians will wear a navy beret with red and white stripes.
The blazer and beret feature the official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team patch and Ralph Lauren's signature "Polo Pony."
"We're very excited about the look Ralph Lauren has developed for Team USA to wear at the London 2012 Opening Ceremony and believe it will help set the tone for Team USA at the Games," USOC Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Baird said in a statement.
Ralph Lauren also designed a line of clothing and accessories for athletes to wear around the Olympic village.
Lauren designed Team USA's uniform for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing with similar berets and blazers.
